    hosted by Alok last year in Parliament for youth parliamentarians The UK Youth Parliament is made up of young people from across the country all elected by their peers to ensure the voice of young people is heard nationally and internationally They are elected for a period of one year The Member of Youth Parliament MYP for Reading is elected from within the Reading Youth Cabinet Alok Sharma said I am very pleased to be hosting this event in Parliament to help boost political engagement amongst young people The Reading Youth Cabinet has been very active in raising issues relating to mental health and improving PSHE lessons in schools which is highly commendable and I look forward to continuing to work with our local Member of the Youth Parliament on these issues Adrian Rodriguez Member of the Youth Parliament for Reading I m very glad that for the second year in a row Alok has been able to secure the Attlee Suite We hope that as many young people from Reading can come along and feel more empowered afterwards If any years 12 and 13 students are interested in attending this event please email readingmyp gmail com for further details

    Reading Futures Fair Underwood Road Precinct Development Visitor Parking Permits Letters Gallery Contact Links Talentino 24th September 2015 Alok Sharma the Member of Parliament for Reading West has welcomed news that local career development company Talentino has won three quality awards Alok recently visited the new offices of Talentino to congratulate them on winning the awards and to learn more about their plans for the coming year Talentino is a Reading based Career Development company set up by senior people from business They train people from schools Special schools Housing Associations and business to become early career coaches to work with all young people including those with learning difficulties and have expanded to work across England as well as locally in schools The Talentino Career Development Coaching Programme has recently won three quality awards They are the first Careers company to win the Careers Assured Quality Mark awarded by the Career Development Institute and will be receiving their award at the annual conference in Cardiff in November Coaches trained by Talentino also receive a qualification from the European Mentoring and Coaching Council as well as official Continuing Professional Development CPD accreditation Talentino has also received investment from two social enterprise programmes including the Big Issue and the National Lottery Alok first met Jenny Connick four years ago and was impressed by the innovative methods to help prepare young people into work her company was using Since then Alok has helped to support the development of Talentino by introducing the business to local school headteachers and by hosting the Talentino pop up careers pod in Parliament Alok Sharma said I am really pleased that Talentino has been so successful and this success is being recognised by receiving three quality awards I am sure that Talentino will continue to go from strength

    Fair Underwood Road Precinct Development Visitor Parking Permits Letters Gallery Contact Links The Wren School 14th September 2015 Alok Sharma the Member of Parliament for Reading West on Friday 11th September 2015 formally opened The Wren School and spoke on the occasion The Wren School opened its doors for the first time to Year Seven pupils on Monday 7th September 2015 in temporary accommodation and will eventually have 1 176 pupils ranging from Year 7 to 6th Form Alok who is Patron of The Wren School played a key role in ensuring The Wren School was given permission from the Government to open as a new Free School and to help secure the former Elvian School site as the location for the new school Alok has spoken out in Parliament in favour of the new school and held dozens of meetings with Government officials the local authority and the owners of the former Elvian School site to help secure the location on a temporary basis ahead of a formal planning application to build a permanent school on the site Alok Sharma said I am absolutely thrilled that after almost three years of hard work The Wren School is now open It has not been the easiest of journeys and I pay tribute to everyone who has been involved with Wren and has helped to secure the right school on the right site The Wren team are some of the nicest and most dedicated people I have ever had the pleasure to meet and each and every one of them is absolutely passionate about one thing delivering an outstanding education at the heart of the local community Alok continued I very much hope that the former Elvian School site now becomes Wren s permanent home and that Reading Borough Council will
