song which see s 3 Doors Down mix a bit of old and new and come together to create a big stadium sounding rock n roll track which features chunky guitar riffs and soaring melodies which is easily going to be featured on 3 Doors Down set lists for the unforeseeable future When most bands talk about releasing greatest hits it is because they are going to take a lengthy

to them as opposed most of the other songs on the album The rest of the songs take on more of the ballad structure where as these two are more upbeat rock tracks with really catchy lyrics and Believer is really fast paced and bouncy The only other tracks on the album that remotely take this kind of style are Round and Round and My Way but both of which are more melodic with a slightly a softer approach Songs like When You re Young provoke emotion by that I mean the lyrical content and the really soft tones work at complimenting each other to really get at your soul It s the vocals of Brad Arnold that makes that effect what it is especially on song Heaven and I think it s because he gives off an understanding and comforting tone in his voice This is just what they do best and is what most of the album encompasses Back to Me is beautiful Everytime You Go is stupidly catchy On the Run is pretty bouncy it just follows on through the album So how does it actually compare to their older material Well their back catalogue has been

I ve had my rant the band has just stuck a big middle finger in my face as this record is right up there taking the best elements from all of their previous albums and using that to create a range of varied material injecting heavier parts and the more technical abilities of the musicians all in one little package I have to admit it s something I wasn t ready for I wasn t expecting this album to be well what it is which is freakin amazing Dark messenger starts out with a folksy acoustic intro before launching into this drop dead heavy mesh of lightly distorted chord sequences dotted around this though are some really slick riffs and licks so subtly placed that if you re not paying attention you may miss Leather Lord is the high octane side to 3IOB that everyone has grown up with but with an exceptionally sinister twist to it deep growls at various points heavier distortion and a much unexpected breakdown towards the end The thing that s made this such a successful triumphant return to form is they ve gone back to the drawing board because at 1 time they were quite the formidable popular metal act at one point in time after Fire Up The Blades though the band were fading away with Here Awaits Thy Doom not really helping the bands case but then this took their really warrior themed metal to the next level and really brought the metal songs like 4000 Torches Leave It On The Ice and Men of Fortune absolutely kill it with every listen without raping power chords and breakdowns and instead playing around with tone and depth in the form of riffs licks and ranged vocal lines What is needed now is a

that I really recommended giving up for the EP as it a solid hard hitting release the EP opens with the rifftastic Hollow and from the off you just know that 48 Hours have spent a lot of time working on their sound as the riffs running throughout the song are massive the vocals from Adam Jerome are big yet full of melody giving the band a rock meets pop feel Not Alone is more of a progressive song from the opening track and in oozes in style from the opening seconds right up until the final drum beat is laid down instrumentally the song is quite soft sounding for the majority of the time yet the song features many build ups and break downs and this is where the killer instrumental work comes in with really fast guitar riffs and constant drum beats coming and going every now and again whilst Adam Jerome lays down his soaring vocals The EP title track and closer Secrets is easily the best track on the EP as 48 Hours pretty much smash the airwaves with fast paced drum beats beefy guitar riffs solid basslines and big catchy melodic vocals creating a song

The first two aren t bad at all but there s nothing that really grabs you bar a nice twiddly riff on the second song The Start of Something New Track three The Present Is Letting You Pass By starts off with a disjointed sounding guitar riff that soon finds it s rhythm once the drumming starts off and follows a pretty generic song pattern of verses choruses and breakdowns But the chord progressions and initial riff are what really make this song one to listen to again and again Track four starts and things begin to change Everything Yet Nothing A fast paced intro as usual just far more soft on the choice of instrument There s always a sense of oo this is going to get heavy I just don t know when as the verse goes on and the suspicions are confirmed as soon as the chorus begins And after the second chorus a nice short acoustic break down It seems a bit out of place it s played in quite a classical style but given the briefness I guess it works This songs is a real blend of styles and all in all it s very good Track five Surface Shimmer is just violent Starting with drums rolls heavy guitars and shouting Need I say more But out of the madness rhythm riffs and melodies are soon discovered and the song really gets going Little riffs fills and breakdowns are dotted across the song but in all honesty it never seems to get anywhere ADCD are a band that I could see slowly getting a big fan base They re the kind of group you d imagine ending up as a support band for a band like AFI Bullet For My Valentine and other such groups

fantastic basslines on offer once again the song is really radio friendly and melodic and is also just crying out to be played on the radio as it has that commercial sound about it This Is The House That Double Built is so different from anything that A Day To Remember have done it is like they have taken the whole hardcore style down a stadium rock route its big sounding with lots of backing chants of Woaaah but has to be the weakest offering on the album 2ND Sucks is one of the first songs that A Day To Remember and their record label Victory Records played to the world from the new album by putting little 50 second clips up on their My Space page the song only actually runs for 2minutes and 28seconds and is a proper mosh pit anthem opening with a Street Fighter style sound over of Fight before exploding into a massive flurry of hectic instrumental work which is both bound to make you go mental in the mosh pit and secondly want to pick up an instrument yourself The best song to sing a long to on the album is All Signs Point To Lauderdale as pretty much everyone can relate to the melodic lyrics of I hate this town it s all washed up and all my friends don t give a fuck they ll tell me that it s just bad luck when will I find where I fit in sometime in their lives even if you can t relate to the lyrics you will find it near impossible not to bop and sing a long You Be Tails I ll Be Sonic is one of the most creative songs on the album the title is quite weird being named after

The album starts off with A1 B2 C3 the song is fast off the mark and hard hitting the drumming is constant and on time the guitars are fast and furious and have punk written all over them frontman Calum Fox s vocals are loud and clear yet quite raw and aggressive sounding in places giving the song an overall punk feel Toned down drumming opens Letters To Grace about 40 seconds into the song the guitars slowly start to appear as the drumming gets more constant and more louder and when the song hits the minute mark the guitar riffs come in thick and fast with stand out drumming cropping up all over the place the vocals are once again quite raw and shouty sounding with more sing a long melodic backing vocals which seems to work really well The opening guitar work to More To A Hero Than Saving The Day is top stuff the drums once again really stand out and the song in general is pretty hard hitting Punk rock is a hard scene to master and standout from the crowd A New Day are talented musicians especially Martyn Edwards whose drumming is simply amazing But

good thing as a few of the songs sound the same and nothing really grabs you the vocals are decent enough bu there s not much range in them although they are powerful and emotional at times and the lyrics are well written the pace of the songs suits the vocalist singing style well The album seems to be vocal driven as the music seems to have no real stand
