that makes me want the nice hot summer weather to come along as it s the fast paced bouncy music that s best listened to really loud whilst enjoying a nice pint of beer or cider depending of personal preference Alcoholics Unanimous is a very upbeat bouncy track that flows extremely fast the lyrics are random with the band signing about drink you will easily find yourself singing Bring me tea bring me coffee I ve been up all night I ve been making mistakes as the lyrics are so infectious The b side Jus Desserts is just as good as the main single it s another really fast paced bouncy song that is full of random lyrics and is a song all about food with front man Eddie Argos singing Whenever I get hurt I skip dinner and have a big dessert now as far as random lyrics go that s pretty damn random great song though Art Brut stormed on to the music scene in 2005 and since then they have never disappointed us there music is always fun and fresh and the perfect sound track to your summer the forthcoming album art Brut Vs Satan is bound

a little bit wrong as in actual fact these guys have been rocking it since the 90 s and this may I add is their seventh studio album in these Italian thrashers lengthy career From that paragraph readers will obviously take away that I haven t listened to the band before so this album will act as a clean slate for me and I can review the bands style on a whole as if it were their first album I wasn t entirely wrong with what I thought about their hybrid style as album opener Empire shows that modern metal tones and arrangements are all in place but the thick backbone of the sound is thrash sprinkled with power metal esque guitar work and vocal lines all perfectly entwined as to not have each influence stand on its own and become a mess that in itself is impressive as you d expect so many different elements to be muddled not as crisp as it actually sounds The inclusion of power metal vocals and the distinctive tone make songs like We Fight ridiculously catchy in vocals and melody those chorus lines ring out memorable and powerful making them instant hits Releasing this following on from their Pop Up Your Ass EP where they took pop artists like Britney Spears Lady Gaga Rhianna and Michael Jackson giving them the thrash metal tune up then leading onto this release upped the ante Blood of Generations Alone Reign of Terror and Burning Star push the limits of melodic thrash metal I think that would be the best classification for this act melodic thrash metal simply because from where I m sat that is exactly what it is I thoroughly enjoyed this album and would be intrigued to attend a show sometime if you like

enough trivial nonsense lets get down to the music shall we The first track of the album and the very first single Die Trying is an absolute beauty and a tremendous way to open up an album opening up with a heavy song encompassing what Breaking Benjamin do with that of a lighter band like Hinder fairing up in the middle ground with extremely catchy vocal lines and memorable musician ship This style of music is definitely stadium bound you can just picture 16000 people singing along to Get Thru This and Whole World Crazy they really are severely infectious tunes that I imagine would provoke a lot of crowd participation After a few listens to this album it s just stuck in my head it s got in there and is refusing to leave Singing to them when I m driving or when I m walking along with completely different songs on Especially Raining and Breathe Again there are elements within these song the vocals are catchy the guitar work is memorable and the drum lines keep the pace perfectly The album never seems to get stale even through to the bonus tracks that could have easily been put on as standard tracks as they re just as good as the standard tracks There are heavier tracks on here though like Completely has a very heavy riff and a gritty edge to it whilst retaining the usual flowing edge that Art of Dying seem to be encompassing as their sound this is also reflected in as previously mentioned Die Trying However the heavy song to the more melodic song ratio is very low maybe in the future they could up the balance a bit as this would help their set by living it up a bit as well as

and turn throughout each song the riffs are fast and thick but no two riffs sound the same The Arusha Accord are technically very talented musicians The EP starts off with The New Face Of Revenge the song blasts straight into hardcore territories with its banging drum beats and meaty guitar riffs the dual vocals from Alex and Paul Green come across extremely well both vocalists have quite similar vocal styles but not once do they clash and sound out of place they both scream their lungs out and there are a few chilled out moments where the vocals come a bit more sing along for a few moments before exploding into brutalness again There is a lot to offer on Nightmares Of The Ocean there may only be 5 tracks but the band have managed to cram so much into the EP the instrumental track Solstice is stunning it s quite laid back and features a variety of soundscapes and before you know it the band have blasted into the EP title track Nightmares Of The Ocean whilst you are left thinking this is Solstice at its peak due to the quick change over It s good to see

melody and cleaner tones and then came The Powerless Rise which was technical and heavy for the most part with melodic moments carefully placed at opportune moments The first few tracks are hard to place I can feel a variation at work Cauterize open s us up in a bit of a messy way much like Beyond Our Suffering did with The Powerless Rise and I found myself initially a bit put off by it until I gave it a fair few spins before I started to find it to have a very technical structure and in fact captures much of what As I Lay Dying is all about right at the source but then A Greater Foundation has the hard tones yet layered with the cleaner style with verses that blow your face off when slotted alongside those drastically slower choruses strangely though it really fits Wasted Words is like the personification of what a cross between the previous 2 albums just is there are sinister distorted tones alongside eerie melodies which are the 2 best parts of the last couple albums I m just glad they ve kept those breakneck style drum lines and breakdowns not a touch on Anodyne Sea from the last album because that was absolute insanity but songs like Whispering Silence with its breakdown outro and Overcome come close Defender and No Lungs To Breathe vocal and lyric wise are the best as they are really catchy and pull at your stomach with the atmospheric tones so does My Only Home On the whole then this record adds another 11 songs of diverse material to their back catalogue as a standalone CD it s really strong and I ve fell in love with it it s not as aggressive as The Powerless Rise nor

the song itself in its structure is much superior The style though a perfect balance of metal and hard rock bringing them away from being called outdated the crisp distortion and varying styles of drumming bring both genres into one for a distinctive sound Time to tackle my favourite Collapse Easily the best song the band has ever written takes that distinctive crossover style I mentioned and really brings it down into the perfect blend if this doesn t get your head bouncing around then I don t know what will Guitarist Elliot Rouse has once again astounded me with these riffs and solos very talented guy who s destined to be one of the greats a huge shout out to vocalist Mr Malton also for the vast improvement in his vocal work you can really hear it when you compare these releases The final 2 tracks are Rapture and Dirt Sky Dirt Sky is a slower paced sinister track groovy as hell as well where as Rapture is heavy groovy and extremely catchy easily the best all round track as it encompasses who Ascendance are I ve tried to get to this bit quickly because the Bonus track has

end of September From the bands name and album name and also the fact that they come from Germany I was expecting them to be an extremely heavy band but they are more of a melodic sounding band with a few heavy moments The album opens up with This Is The Spat which starts off with some spoken word vocals and extremely fast guitar playing sing a long vocals soon come in though leading up to the catchy chorus The song does feature some growling backing vocals that seem to fit in place Collapse Collide has quite a long technical introduction the vocals take about 45 seconds to come in but are worth the wait as Tobi Moesch has a nice and strong voice that works really well in this band There are so many highlights on this album such as the rocking introduction of Recording The Fall to the short instrumental of Incidence to the stunning powerful vocals in Cuba Dive and the outstanding Sometimes Friendship Can Be Murder which has such a great introduction and a wide mixture of vocals chopping and changing from sing a long to growls in no time at all There aren t many flaws in this album but Last Light You Pass By is a really chilled out almost acoustic sounding track that is not going to appeal to everyone but it s not necessarily a bad song Overall Ashes Of Pompeii are a good band they didn t sound anything like what I was expecting but they were still surprisingly a good band If you like indie and screamo music but not sure which genre you like the best I m sure you will like Ashes Of Pompeii as they bring in the best of both worlds especially with their mixture of

which is due for release on the 20th October Moving On is a ballad which was originally featured on their third studio album From Death To Destiny which was released pretty much an year ago and I have to say that the song is the most moving song on the album as it features Asking Alexandria taking a few steps back and slowing things fully down as front man Danny Worsnop sings his heart out as he beautifully belts out the lyrics I ve never been so torn up in all my life I should have seen this coming I ve never felt so hopeless than I do tonight I don t wanna do this anymore It is safe to say that Asking Alexandria have had their ups and downs as a band and at one point the band nearly reached boiling point due to Danny Worsnop s nonstop drinking and partying but it seems that the little break they took at the start of the year has done the band wonders and now they are currently on the road across America on the Rockstar Mayhem Tour alongside Avenged Sevenfold Korn and Trivium and in only a matter of months
