I found a lot of respect for the man and because of this new found respect I am giving him another chance musically now he is back with his comeback single Saturday Saturday is pretty much like classic Basshunter material but sounding slightly more polished and more grown up the song is catchy as hell and is bound to be a dance floor anthem this summer if you re planning on a trip abroad to destinations such as Ibiza Magaluf Tenerife then you are guaranteed to be coming home with Saturday swirling around your head at 100 miles per hour as previous Basshunter material has dominated the abroad club scene and Saturday is surly going to follow in the footsteps of it The only downside that I can see with Saturday is the fact that the song is irritatingly catchy that I am sure like most Basshunter song s once it has been over played it will really start to get on your nerves also the single release of the song features 7 remix versions and an instrumental which really isn t necessary but may please some of you remix nerd I am sure Saturday will please the Basshunter fans

falcetto wailing adventures it still remains quite tuneful and yeah it s not bad at all But Moon and Moon is just like all the other stuff Same old same old Too slow going for that strange mix of gentle vulnerable music with a dark edge and a powerful lead vocal It doesn t tickle my pickle But this isn t all about me If you re a Bat For

generic tune that is buried deep beneath the vocal anyway I think it s fair to say that this music appeals to a more chilled vibe than that of upbeat music However the lead vocal is so all over the place often touching on notes that really grate and it s all too dramatic and theatrical to fade into the background It s impossible to chill out when you re listening to a woman bellow out dramatic nonsense over a backing that can t support it It s like having another voice in the room with you but one that is in distress Bjork meets Massive Attack I ve no doubt that Bat For Lashes could be good she s got a good voice and all but I think the backing music needs to find itself and complete the sound It s too empty and airy fairy and altogether is the kind of thing I d expect from some pretentious female art students I don t know if anyone associated with the formation of BFL is an art student That said the only people I know who really enjoy BFL are semi pretenteous women One or two tracks adopt a

and a solid set of backing vocal chants Time Has Come is a big in your face pop punk number and it is the exact type of song you would expect from a band on the Hopeless Records roster as the song is just so damn big and bouncy that I can really see this becoming a new fan favourite once the album has been released and the fans have giving the album a solid listen to lyrically things are well written and equally as well executed as Anthony Raneri gives off yet another solid vocal performance Hate Me is quite a dark sounding track which is also pretty heavy sounding and has a chant a long feel running throughout You re No Match is a little aggressive sounding punk track which is crammed with big guitar riffs and solid sounding vocals Pigsty stands out the most on the album to me and it s mainly due to the diverse vocals that Anthony Raneri lets off through the song as one minute they are melodic sounding and then the next they are quite gruff sounding and yet again tell such a great story The more Cult progresses the more I question how Bayside are not bigger than they actually are as the band really do know how to write a good track and each and every member of the band is talented with the drum beats basslines guitar riffs all shining on their own throughout the album at different individual moments Transitive Prperty shows off the more the more emotional and serious side of the band Stuttering shows off just how punk rock they can be Something s Wrong shows off their more pop orientated side whilst Bear With Me see s the band in a big sing a long

an old Oasis song that I had never heard or if it was a Beady Eye track and with the power of Shazam on my Iphone I found out it was Beady Eye the song is fantastic and a proper sing a long radio friendly number the only downside of the track is the fact that it is Oasis without Noel Gallagher and in my this is something that should never of happened and I also understand that the song was created many years ago during the Heathen Chemistry sessions There may well be a fair few songs on the album that sounds very much like Oasis but at the same time there are also a lot of experimental tracks such as Beatles And Stones the song sounds like a mad psychedelic stoner rock song and the additional keyboard piece really adds to the dynamics of the music throughout the track vocally the song is a big sing a long number Wind Up Dream is another experimental track which oozes in blues style and is about as far away from Oasis as Liam Gem Andy and Chris are going to get the solo vocal work is fantastic and really does kick off the whole stoner rock vibe once again One of the standout tracks on the album apart from The Roller is the fantastic Bring The Light the song flows at such a fast pace and Liam Gallagher proves what a fantastic frontman he can be with the way that his vocals just flow at a smooth pace and just listening to the song you can imagine his swagger on stage whilst blasting out the infectious lyrics pure greatness in my opinion I could carry on writing about each and every track on the album but I am not going

the scene Well the Beastie Boys are now back and totally different than ever before and have released a new album titled The Mix up which is a full on instrumental album with no lyrics what so ever The Beastie Boys have always been loved for their instrument work and the raps that go with it but how will people take to a whole new album of instrumental work and no raps or vocals at all The Mix Up opens with B For My Name which features a good mixture of sounds from keyboard lines to bass and drums sounds providing an all over funky sound 14th Street Break features some good guitar work but everything else going on within the track provides a bit to much for me to take in Off The Grid starts off with some clear guitar playing and could become a good song if the band ever choose to re release it with vocals The Rat Cage also features some good guitar playing and the drumming really stands out I could go on and write about every song on the album but it wont do the songs any justice you will know if you like this album or not as soon as you listen to it but sadly for me I m not bought on the whole instrumental stuff Overall the Beastie Boys have come up with some good sounds on The Mix Up but after listening to a few minutes of each song you tend to get bored of it and skip on to the next track and so forth If the Beastie Boys go back and add vocals to the Mix Up they could come up with some overall good songs but 42 minutes of Beastie Boys instrumental music is too much to

me so much of the famous Kinks number You really got me and if you don t know the song check out track three of this album and you will know exactly what I mean Although the guitar riff is very repetitive it is one of my favourite tracks as the catchy repetitiveness gives you something to really get into The track Little Animals really mellows out with some really progressive instrumental work lazy laid back drumming with some mellowed out almost whiney vocals The blend really makes the track work well as you can imagine this band being totally spaced out and just lazily playing along The song gradually builds up and towards the end the song finishes with some more aggressive guitar work as everyone else is still playing lazily which underpins the track perfectly The Beast I Came To Be follows on and is totally the opposite to Little Animals the song is quick upbeat and full of energy The guitar work is very clever in this and the drumming is quick with loads of little fills Sleepwalker is next in and it opens up with a really trashy sludgy bluesy feel If you want to hear the ultimate song where blues meets trashy rock then this is it The instrumental parts are distorted strong and sludgy with some scratchy vocals sitting on top The final track Thanks was first played at a benefit gig for a previous member who had broken his back The song is very tongue in cheek and has a bluesy little melody with many spoken thanks over the top It finishes off the album not too seriously and with a little bit of humour Overall The Beasts of Bourbon have impressed me although some of the tracks could get a little boring

short and sweet yet heavy slice of punk rock with really gruff sounding vocals the song runs for 2minutes and 45seconds and is a gem of the song which has the right balance when it comes to heaviness and catchiness The Beatsteaks are extremely underrated and Jane Became Insane is the perfect song to prove that if you have never heard these guys before check the single out and then
