you re currently on a headline tour playing the entirety of A Place In the Sun with all these gigs have you grown used to being on the road or do you still find it hard Kevin Well I have a wife and son so that makes it hard but other than that no I mean with our riggers and team it makes it easy for me as I just do sound check press and the show We started in China on this thing we re literally going around the globe and not allot of people get to say that Its fifteen years later and we still get to do it that s mind blowing To answer a question you didn t even ask my favourite shows are in England for sure its fucking great here man they go off not just for the singles and obvious songs but for everything else which makes us feel great Y ou are towards the end of your huge tour which covered China Europe and the UK what have been your highlights so far Kevin The highlight for sure as last year we did the KOKO show which is great and we love England but this time we got to go to Ireland and Scotland for the first time I mean we did Ireland last night and so we are a bit worse for were now but it was awesome there was something in the air for both Ireland and Scotland which made them special Y ou ve made some amazing video s throughout your career from the Massive Miserable to the Hollywood Over My Head to the stylish My Own Worst Enemy which is your favourite Kevin The favourite real video for me is My Own Worst Enemy as we filmed it on my birthday but I also love the Pamela Anderson video But some of my favourite videos to watch are made by our friend Shaun Card he does our live videos It s the best as it shows us having fun and the crowd enjoying it I mean I d love to make another proper video and we might do it for the next album but they used to be expensive to make like proper expensive you know how much our Lipstick and Bruises video was 475 000 that s stupid that s RCA money man you know the Mulletron which was my idea which they went for but now everyone shouts at me and says that was your fault W as it hard adding picking the extra songs to play after A Place In the Sun for your setlist Seeing as you have another 4 albums and tonnes of b sides to choose from Kevin No it wasn t hard you play enough shows and you know what people are gravitating towards but we re on a run of 7 back to back shows and I can turn up and play hung over but out singer man it takes

downstairs so after they all finished playing they came down and saw us and then sorted it out for April so they all invited us out to tour again They re so lovely they re all the nicest guys you ll ever meet all 9 of them there s always good times and banter out of our English accents the shows have been great and we just don t want it to end Y ou are towards the end of the tour now what have been your highlights so far Graz It s hard to pick out one particular show and it wouldn t be fair to do but every show feels like it s getting better and better and the whole entire tour has been incredible As for a funny story Josh almost killed Joe Ragosta from Patent Pending the other night Joe and Corey come out and sing the end of one of our songs with us every night and Corey came out but we couldn t see Joe so we thought ah well maybe he s busy it s cool but he appeared on stage behind Josh Josh didn t realised and turned round and impaled him with his guitar he floored Joe he was down on the ground for like 30 seconds but he found the strength to get back up and carry on singing the song but it was touch and go weather they were going to play he ended up with a big bruise on his ribs Y ou have just released your new single Reach Out what has the response been from your fans and the press so far Graz Really really good it s a teaser for the album it s the closest thing to the EP as the albums not going to be out for a while so it bridges that gap I mean people are singing along and it s only been out a few weeks so it s great Y ou are currently working on your debut album how is that going and what can you tell us about it Graz Really well this is the first time where we re trying to write allot of brand new songs in one go so it s been good to get in and see what works and what doesn t we ve got three quarters wrote and half recorded It s coming along nicely and has a big epic sound I just can t wait to get it out I mean we re working on the songs so they re perfect we don t tend to write lots and see what works but we make sure the ones we do work and work well W hat do you have planned once your current tour comes to an end in a couple of days time Graz Back in the studio straight away to record a few more songs get the album finished and get a tour ready for the end of the

push them as singles we learn why these songs are successful and how they are successful then we put our own little spin on it and the comments on them have been good which is cool W hen it comes to doing covers you have a good diverse collection how do you go about choosing songs to cover And what would you say your favourite cover is so far I really enjoy playing Straight Through The Heart by Dio If we do another covers album we get a list together an email thread which includes our team at our label management friends and family and our fans of course we put the question to them for what works we get a massive list of songs we then start cutting songs out and narrowing down to the final choice it takes a few months our fans pick On the first one Lady gaga they wanted us to do that it was like really That s what you want us to do then some people said why are you doing that well you asked us laughs Y ou also have a cover of Straight Through The Heart featured on the recently released Dio tribute album how did this come about And how does it feel to apart of such an important album release for a really good cause Honestly it came about a few months prior to recording the covers album our manager Vinnie he was very close to Ronnie growing up he would call him Uncle Ronnie he was a big part of his life he was the one who suggested the song to us We started playing it live long before we recorded then we recorded it for the covers EP in the meantime Wendy Dio got hold of it then got in contact with our management and wanted to put it on the tribute album Y ou released your second studio album The Strange Case Of back in April 2012 the album was a huge success for you gaining great response from your fans and the press and also lead to a pretty hectic touring schedule but what has been your main highlight from the whole cycle 2013 was amazing for us we started off the year getting nominated for a Grammy going out to LA to record the Reanimate EP did the Jimmy Kimmle show won the Grammy which we are so grateful for the other big thing was going to new places on tour like Russia we did a lap of the world we said yes to a lot of things maybe we said yes a little too much but it was great so many perks and high points we are having a great time and it doesn t look like we have lost any momentum in our down time W e understand that you started the year off with working on material for your forthcoming third studio album how has that been going and what can

more confident I m better at bigging myself up I can sing higher and faster I m better at writing lists and better at writing songs about beards I m the best S o you have been touring mainland Europe since the beginning of the month how has the tour been and what has been your highlight from it so far Johan There s been some good highlights your beard Nathanial Your beard is right up there and I would say that since we ve come over to do these shows your beard has been the best beard on an interviewer Johan We saw a really good beard in Germany Nathanial Oh yeah but I might be thinking of a different guy Johan It doesn t matter Nathanial Germany had some amazing beards and it was great to play in places we hadn t played before like some parts of Germany and the Netherlands and it s great to see that the majority continental Europe is abuzz with a beard fever which I assume will never end T onight is the first show from your UK tour what can we expect from the show Facey Songs about beards Nathanial Lots of beard stroking we will be stroking our beards each other s beards and the audience s beards and they ll be stroking out beards and each other s beards and their own beards Johan And if anyone has the audacity to come near the stage without a beard then we will quickly make an example of them Nathanial We will take them down We will end them br Johan We will also be previewing a couple of songs from our new album too D oes the upcoming album have a name Johan It looks like at this stage we will be calling it The Beard Album which I think is representative of how beardy the album really is Nathanial We wouldn t do that if we didn t think this was the ultimate beard related album I mean we thought about calling each of our first 3 The Beard Album but they weren t quite beardy enough to justify the name Johan You don t call your album the blank album whatever colour or beard in our case without it being a career defining move and I think we ve done this with this album Nathanial The White Album was definitely the whitest album the whitest sounding album ever and this will be the beardiest album ever And The White Album is our favourite Beatles album as they had the beardiest beards during that album except for Paul McCartney who is a traitor to himself and bearded men everywhere Facey He s barely in the band as far as I m concerned Johan You often go on your Paul McCartney rants Nathanial It s just I know he can grow a great beard I ve seen pictures of him with a beard but he seemed to have a fleeting

us when he was 15 so when we moved to England we had to become his legal guardians his parents had to sign over guardianship to the band So he missed out on allot of stuff and when we went home this last time he must have really enjoyed that so when we went back on tour he just wasn t feeling it so we don t hold any animosity or anything like that and where just feeling it and seeing how everything will take hold but Nick isn t a permanent replacement or anything like that I mean Nick is a great guitarist and came highly recommended from our buddy s he came and sat in a couple of times and he s very very good Y ou are currently back in the UK supporting Foals how did this chance come about And how have you found the shows on the tour so far The Foals have been good friends of ours for years and when we first moved to England they were one of the first bands we befriended and they took us out on tour When we first came over we had these sugar plum fairy tales of rock and roll across the pond and when we came it was totally different and at that time it was that new wave angular guitar dance music The funny thing was if you weren t in one of those bands then you weren t perceived to be artistic so if you don t get this then you can t be an artist So we didn t make allot of friends at first but the Foals where really great and they took us on tour and we became buddy s and have kept up with each other over the years and it s great to have a reunion tour and have some incredible fun T he UK tour comes to an end with a headline show at the Electric Ballroom in London how much are you looking forward to playing your own headline show here and what can people expect from that show compared to your support slots We re very much looking forward to it it s our first headline show in 2 years As I said before when we first came to England we moved to London several years ago and where there for 2 years and we really got our start here in England so London s like our second home for us The fact it sold out so fast surprised us as we weren t sure if the roots had stuck As for what you can expect I don t know a longer set and hopefully with people being familiar with the material it ll be a little crazier although this tour has been pretty freaking crazy so as in terms of what to expect a longer set and a good honest performance Y ou seem to be pretty busy touring right up to the summer

thing it was awesome to see the crowd s reaction and how much the kids care Mike We had no idea I mean we could have gone out and played that song the first time after our 2 months of being at home for Christmas and people could have hated it I mean we know what people say online but that s so broad I mean that person could be from Japan and were not playing there for this exact moment and time it s about this room and how they react and its awesome to see it go down so well Y ou are currently back in the UK on your headline tour how does it feel to be back in the UK Mike It s been going good yeah Jordan It feels better than tours we ve played in the past the way we ve interacted with the kids the vibes on stage and playing new songs and it just feels better Mike We re doing things the way we want to do them now in the way we feel our fans want us to do them and not how we were told to them One of the biggest differences I see is going out and signing things and taking photos after a show I mean you d be surprised to see how much energy emotional and physical it takes to do that I mean you get less sleep you get cold you get sick Jordan It sucks so bad Mike It affects so much and you want to do what you can for kids and its different when it s warmer but we haven t been doing it this tour and we normally do it because we don t want to let kids down We love meeting the kids and doing the meet and greats and our fans say our meet and greats are some of the best ones out there But this kind of thing leads to shows being better as no ones burnt out no ones sick it s just better that s the mentality we have towards everything Jordan I mean that s how it was when I was a kid with bands like Starting Line they wouldn t even let me bring in a sound recorder to record them as there was no shit like that I mean I didn t know what Kenny was doing after he left the stage I didn t go and try and bang on the side of the van I mean there s a level of crossing the line I mean if we come out and people are there we re not going to ignore them or anything Mike Yeah I mean there used to be this thing were the entire crowd would stay after the show and it would be like our 3rd meet and greet of the day after doing like in store signings and shit and I d go the extra mile but it

favourite track changes though as I ll keep listening to the album and it ll change cuz I ll be like I love that part but I think at the moment its Damsel In Distress as I love playing it live Y ou spent the majority of January touring solidly across the UK on your headline tour how was this Matt We didn t expect it but over the tour we sold out every venue but one which was so unexpected One of the highlights for me was playing out local venue Central Station Wrexham because when we ve played there before in other bands we ve had like 15 people show up but 405 people showed up on the day and I ve never seen it as busy But every show was great so many people every night it was a bit bewildering Y ou are now back on tour across the UK supporting We Are The In Crowd how did this come about and how have you found the tour so far Matt Fil was talking to Tay at Warped UK weren t you Fil Fil Yeah laughs Fil is across the room putting on his jacket to go out and get some food Matt Yeah he was like yeah we d love to tour with you guys Fil That was before it was happening and confirmed and she was like are you doing it and we were like yeah Matt Now were on it so that s how it came about we met her pestered her to be on it and that was that FIl It was weird because she was like we really want you to be on it have you confirmed it yet and we were like yeah we said yeah ages ago and were waiting to hear back if it s happening Matt Then it materialised it and here we are H ow ve you found the shows Matt It s cool its different from the crowd we normally play too but it s great say if 5 people coming away from the show check us out then that s awesome it s been fun playing bigger rooms than were used to It s also allot stricter with load ins and outs but its fun A t the end of February you are heading out to America for a lengthy tour how much are you looking forward to this How different is it playing in the states than in the UK Matt Well we ve only really played 2 shows there so it s hard to say But we have the fun of being from Britain so we have people coming up and seeing us just because of where we re from It was good last time we went and some shows have sold out in advance Like Chicago that sold out and got upgraded then it sold out again so that s weird as we didn t realise we had a fan base

s cool for us it s quite easy to pigeon hole our music W ell what would you describe it as Harry ooooh Connor I d describe it as somewhere between but not limited to pop punk rock and grunge and anywhere in between We re five really quite different guys but where best friends and we all listened to such different stuff growing up and we all through it together and this is what has come up I know allot of bands say that but I feel like we have a twisted sort of blend of genres which can be uncomfortable but I find it refreshing and I quite enjoy it H ow did you find the whole recording process for Good Luck Harry It s quite a natural process actually we thought we d go in and they d take our songs apart and mess with them Connor It is always a worry when you go into a studio as you say things could be taken apart and operated on but it was really comfortable We went in with Romesh Dodangoda at Long wave in Cardiff and he was on the same level as us from day one and we made very few changes to our songs and it all came together very nicely A s I m doing this impromptu I don t have a set list of questions for Decade and so go off pretty much the questions I gave to Mayday Parade so when I get to the question about how does it feel to be back in the UK I read it out and then go well you can t answer that as you re already from the UK to which Harry replies Harry Sometimes when where on tour people come to the merch desk and ask is this the first time you re in the UK Connor How many times you been to the UK Harry Well I only live 2 hours down the road mate Laughs W here about in the UK are you from then Harry Bath near Bristol and the surrounding area W hat s it like supporting Man Overboard and Mayday Parade Harry It s good we ve had the pleasure over the past few years to support some of the stalwarts of American pop punk and alternative music and we have had the pleasure of playing with both bands before so it s been cool to meet up with those guys and play some shows Connor I love Man Overboard it s been great watching Man Overboard every night it s awesome to watch I love it W hat have you got planned after this tour Connor Can we say Harry I m not sure can we say it Connor We ve got something in the works but we re not sure if we can put it out yet as the official announcement has to happen first We ll just say we ve got plans for tours of
