  • Pleated bags workshop « a life of fibre – Angela Barrow
stitched onto the outside pretty much as you see it creating even more interest My phone has made this look blue when it s actually a vibrant purple This is a large bag and so it was no surprise that Liz didn t manage to felt it on the day so much pleating to do Beautiful colours here really showing off the space dyed fibres Although not quite complete it was well on the way to being felted One of two circular bags and here I must apologise for missing photos There was a cute round purple bag with a flap which was finished and for which I have no photo even though I could have sworn I d taken one However when I cam to load these I realised that I haven t got pictures of two more Sorry Happily you can see this one where the spiral pleating emphasises the circular shape of the bag Last but not least is another beautiful leaf shape with much care going into the stitching Liz had just finished as I took this shot and I have to admire the zen like calm she maintained throughout the day as I know I never manage that as a participant The larger the bag and the more pleating then the less chance of finishing at the workshop but I know they won t regret taking them home to complete as they re all going to look amazing Thank you for a pleasant day ladies and a very tasty lunch Tags pleated bag Leave a Reply Click here to cancel reply Name required Mail will not be published required Website Subscribe to my blog Join my mailing list to receive latest workshop dates and felt news or My Flickr Photos Hints and Tips Tutorials Tutorial

put a little extra fibre on the reverse then rolled up and felted for a handle It s made a sturdy handle and as it s the same felt as the main bag it blends in beautifully In fact I think these mottled greys show off the pleats exceptionally well Zoe was a star being happy to model her bag for us It has a very useful cross body long strap and is a very practical size How about a close up As soon as I have photos of the other bags I ll share them with you Edited to add pictures of Julia s bag Julia s work was lovely and to me had a vintage feel to the finished felt She created a messenger bag with a gussett so it s very roomy The line of bright pink was an inspired choice I like the mainly plain handle with just s splash of colour Part of the leftover felt was used to make bead as a fastening And with the last vestiges Julia made a mobile phone pocket Thanks for sharing Julia Tags pleated bag Leave a Reply Click here to cancel reply Name required Mail will not be published required Website Subscribe to my blog Join my mailing list to receive latest workshop dates and felt news or My Flickr Photos Hints and Tips Tutorials Tutorial Felt cord making Tutorial 3D Pod Tutorial Nuno felt scarf Tutorial Trollen weaving Tutorial Seamless Felt Handbag Tutorial Seamless Felt Notebook Categories Book Review Curlew Diaries Featured Maker Felt United Felting General Metaphor past workshops Spinning tutorial Search blog Good stuff Andrea Graham Arlene s felt Attic 24 Cash en Els Clasheen Felt Alive Feuer und Wasser Fiona Duthie Foxglove Felts I live I love I craft I am me Irit

embellishments is sari silk I loved the shape of this small bag and the contrast handle and button set off the oatmeal BFL very well I thought you might appreciate a closer view of the structure of these pleats This messenger bag with diagonal pleats worked out very well The partial flap was a later addition and I love the way it echoes the line of the pleats All in all a very successful day I d say This workshop was held at Gisburn Festival Hall which as you can see is lovely and light with lots of space Think I may have to book some more there Tags past workshops pleated bag One Response to Pleated bags workshop kate says November 18 2014 at 8 36 pm looks like another successful day x Leave a Reply Click here to cancel reply Name required Mail will not be published required Website Subscribe to my blog Join my mailing list to receive latest workshop dates and felt news or My Flickr Photos Hints and Tips Tutorials Tutorial Felt cord making Tutorial 3D Pod Tutorial Nuno felt scarf Tutorial Trollen weaving Tutorial Seamless Felt Handbag Tutorial Seamless Felt Notebook Categories Book Review Curlew Diaries Featured Maker Felt United Felting General Metaphor past workshops Spinning tutorial Search blog Good stuff Andrea Graham Arlene s felt Attic 24 Cash en Els Clasheen Felt Alive Feuer und Wasser Fiona Duthie Foxglove Felts I live I love I craft I am me Irit Dulman LoveFibre Rabenfilz Renata Felt Studiofelter Tanglewood Thicket Terrie Kwong Threadborne Vilt a la kim Vital Temptation Wildy Woolly I m a member of Felting and Needle Felting Forum Archive April 2016 March 2016 February 2016 January 2016 December 2015 November 2015 Older entries April 2016 March 2016 February 2016 January 2016 December

but I believe it to be wholly synthetic A silk viscose mix would have been better It s a blue grey in colour although the later photos show it as more blue I thought it was quite pretty if a little short I carded up a mix of black navy and cornflower Merino from Adelaide Walker and added some dyed throwsters silk waste for extra interest As the scarf was so short I laid the fibres going across the scarf meaning that it would get narrower but not shorter To compensate I also added a wool border right around the fabric making it wider and longer You can see from the way the scarf has crinkled that I laid the fibres in one direction I m really rather enjoying the texture and weight of this scarf The carded Merino colours compliment it beautifully It s amazing how few devore especially silk devore scarves end up in charity shops I know I can buy fabric by the metre but I don t want all my samples the same so I will continue to explore the shops and see what I come across I can feel a non devore wrap coming on must dash and play Byeee Tags devore nuno wrap Posted in past workshops No Comments Spring wreaths Monday April 20th 2015 Here s photos of two of the finished spring wreaths with the others to follow later First up pastels by Lisa A great first ever piece of wet felting don t you think Lisa was considering adding more leaves and pink blossom to it so it may change Sue eschewed pastels and went for strong orange and yellow It s quite different but no less successful The Trillium shape works very well with the anemones and daffodil I do enjoy the wreath workshops and have at least three more in the planning but I think they ll need yo wait until next year Tags spring wreath Posted in past workshops 3 Comments Slipper workshop Thursday April 9th 2015 This was a busy and very happy workshop which was photographed Georgia requested an opportunity to photograph a craft in action and you can see the photo she s chosen below Sue that s you It was a brief visit but it made the day even more interesting We were a mixed bunch with a few complete novices including our youngest participant teenager Scoop This is that awful moment when having spent ages laying out wool rubbing and rolling you need to use the scissors Oh how I wish that when I was making my slippers I d thought to do what I advised everyone else to do use a vibrant shade of Merino inside to give it a hidden zing See what I mean I snuck this photo in whilst these slippers were still being worked on The bright interiors are such a lovely addition Below is a pair which were fashioned more mule style whilst most chose to have
