see it reversed It s the work of Kathryn I believe this one is by Alison and my sincere apologies if I ve got that wrong Aren t they all wonderful I get so excited when it comes to the end of the day and pieces are revealed it gives me such a buzz Tags devore nuno wrap Posted in past workshops 1 Comment Nuno devore Wednesday May 13th 2015 I m running a nuno devore wrap workshop in December and have been playing around with samples This latest one is a charity shop find no label but I believe it to be wholly synthetic A silk viscose mix would have been better It s a blue grey in colour although the later photos show it as more blue I thought it was quite pretty if a little short I carded up a mix of black navy and cornflower Merino from Adelaide Walker and added some dyed throwsters silk waste for extra interest As the scarf was so short I laid the fibres going across the scarf meaning that it would get narrower but not shorter To compensate I also added a wool border right around the fabric making it wider and longer You can see from the way the scarf has crinkled that I laid the fibres in one direction I m really rather enjoying the texture and weight of this scarf The carded Merino colours compliment it beautifully It s amazing how few devore especially silk devore scarves end up in charity shops I know I can buy fabric by the metre but I don t want all my samples the same so I will continue to explore the shops and see what I come across I can feel a non devore wrap coming on must dash and

from fimo and the yarn is some of the rug yarn which I rescued from a skip and dyed at the same time as the blanket so it s a perfect match It s very simple but I m pleased with this I surprised myself by how easy I found the drawing in needle felting drawing is something I usually avoid but perhaps I shouldn t The title for this one is Risen Tomorrow the purple cushion Tags cushion exhibition needle felting Posted in Felt United Felting 2 Comments The Olympics Sunday July 29th 2012 Well I don t know what the rest of the world made of the opening ceremony but it sure was a mixed bag in my eyes The rural start was slightly twee but I did understand what it was trying to convey When it moved on to the industrial age it got a lot more interesting The chimneys rising into the sky were brilliant and the forging of the rings was fantastic Celebrating the NHS seems to have been a little controversial but it is a great British success story and it was understandable unlike some of the other elements thank goodness for BBC explanations The cauldron was genius that and the rings were the highlight for me and that s where we should have left it It was bad enough rolling out Paul McCartney for the jubilee but we really shouldn t have inflicted such a poor performance on the public a second time Did it convey what being British is about Well it was organised and it was certainly eclectic and eccentric so perhaps it did This popped up locally yesterday and I think it s a great idea there s bunting strings of pom poms and Olympic rings it s very eye catching It s also interactive The medal tally will appear on the tree in the form of medals in appropriate colours as the team win them but it s a nice touch to invite people to leave messages The Olympic flame is also represented The London tree is a great bit of fun too I especially like the guard I managed to finish my Olympic cushions whilst watching the opening ceremony and these will be posted off to Woolsack tomorrow It was strange to look down at my lap and think these will be received by two of the athletes I ve just seen on TV I wonder which country they ll end up in Tags cushion woolsack Posted in Felting No Comments Olympic cushion Saturday June 23rd 2012 Have any of you heard of Woolsack It has a project running to take British wool to the olympics by donating a wool cushion to every athlete that requests one I ve considered making one a few times but failed to actually do it until now The whole cushion is made from Blue Faced Leicester wool Looks real fun laid out On the reverse I thought I d write the type
