  • About Animal Finders - the lost and found pet website for the Bicester area
spreading the word in a fast and efficient way For those that want to get out and hit the streets the Animal Finders system automatically creates a poster for each and every missing animal reported ready to print off at home A message from me Hi there My name is Nick and I m the creator of Animal Finders When I lost my cat Cooper I realised that there was very little local support for people who a trying to find a lost pet There was no central system for people to use and very few ways of sharing information between all the different organisations that could get involved in the plight of a missing pet So in 2009 I built this website for people to use and it s steadily grown into something quite special Since launch we ve helped thousands of people and their pets throughout Oxfordshire We feed data directly to the RSPCA Oxon the Thames Valley Police and a whole host of other organisations Remarkably we ve also built a growing network of volunteer Animal Finders who are ready and willing to look out for missing pets in their neighbourhoods Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to read this If you have any suggestions for ways I can improve this site and the service it provides please drop me an email to nick animalfinders co uk Best wishes to you Nick Carpenter Also in this section More information about our beta test Our Terms of Use Our Privacy Policy in this section Local Pet Watch Scheme About Animal Finders The Bicester catchment area About the Beta Test Official Alert Network Terms of Use Privacy Policy Contact Us Tel 0800 999 2343 Email info animalfinders co uk Submit a message online Make a donation to

  • Find lost dogs and cats with Local Pet Watch from Animal Finders
so what ever people can do for us we greatly appreciate it How do you know who to notify When you register with Local Pet Watch we ask you to give us your postcode and place a marker on a map to show us where you live We convert your location into latitude and longitude co ordinates In addition to your home location you can also add in other places where you might be on a regular basis Some of our members have given us their favourite dog walking spot and their place of work One member has even plotted their entire journey to work So when somebody reports their missing pet they too place a marker on the map to show it s last known location Again we convert this into geographic co ordinates Our system finds all the Local Pet Watch members who live within a certain radius of this location We then send out an alert to these members by email text message or both depending on their preferences And don t forget about the favourite dog walks or the route to the office All these additional locations are taken into account when working out who to send our notifications to What about stolen pets When a pet is stolen we treat it slightly differently If a cat wanders off it s likely to be within a mile or so of it s home In the case of a stolen dog or a stolen cat we know that it s likely to be moved out of the area very quickly In these cases we ll notify all the Local Pet Watch members regardless of their location I run a lost and found service Can I get access to the Local Pet Watch members Yes If you operate
