    was put into production as a Second World War aircraft for the RAF and the Fleet Air Arm Developed from the Percival Vega Gull the early Proctors followed the design quite closely but the later Marks IV and V were a completely redesign of the originals and proved to have less than adequate flight performance amongst other shortcomings Only 1143 Proctor Percivals in total were ever built The Mk V was a civil model derived from the Proctor IV and put into production for private owners business and light charter Only 150 of the type were built and the RAF purchased four of these four seaters for use by air attach s Our 1 72 scale replica G AKIU is in the livery of an aircraft used by the British Embassy in Washington DC With silver bodywork and red lettering on the upper and lower wings additional detail sees the model with black anti glare panel red stripe along the fuselage and black tyres engine and intakes The propellers are silver with yellow tips and red spinner Following its withdrawal from service the real aircraft passed through several owners over the years before being acquired in 1999 by Mike Collett

    distinctive silver and black markings and with duck egg blue underside the highly detailed aircraft shows Hahn s tally of kills on the tail as well as his black and red cockeral emblem on the side Hans Assi Hahn was born in April 1914 at Gotha in Thuringen and joined the Luftwaffe in 1935 Following various promotions and action in both the Battle of France and the Battle of Britain Hahn s tally of kills had risen to 20 by September 1940 and he was awarded the Ritterkreuz for his achievements A month later he was promoted to the rank of Hauptmann and appointed Gruppenkommandeur of III JG 2 In August 1941 he was awarded the Eichenlaub for having achieved 41 victories During his service on the Western Front he shot down 66 Allied aircraft before being transferred to the Eastern Front towards the end of 1942 Hahn had recorded 108 victories by February 1943 when he was shot down by a Russian aircraft and made a prisoner of war He was released in 1950 and after a successful post war business career he retired to the south of France in 1977 Hans Hahn died in 1982 in Munich Stock

    1941 Roley Beaumont was to become one of the famous test pilots after the war The MK1b performance at high levels was disappointing but they made up for it at lower altitudes At the time the Focke Wulf Fw 190s were causing a lot of damage during sneak low level raids over the south east coast of England but they misjudged the power of the Hawker Typhoons which excelled in this low level form of aerial combat The Typhoons were faster than the Fw 190s scoring great success against the Luftwaffe aircraft This subsequently lead to their elevation to the status of fighter bomber and armed with rockets they went to attack enemy ships in the English Channel as well as performing very successful attacks over many Western European battle grounds during the final stages of the war The last Typhoon came off the production line at the end of 1945 at which point it had become a legend in its time Our example represents the Hawker Typhoon MK1b of Sqn Ldr B G Stapleton OC 247 Sqn Eindhoven in December 1944 With the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain this year the Oxford Aviation WWII Typhoon is one
