my problems but that is behind me and I want to get on with my life I know how dangerous McDonagh can be I can not believe she escaped on Thursday and there has been nothing said about it Had the prison authorities or the police made an appeal on Thursday as soon as they knew she might be caught by now But she could be in Dublin by now And all the while I have to look over my shoulder with this threat from her Other than a notification on the Department of Justice s Wanted Persons page last week following the escape there has been no public appeal for information on McDonagh The public need to know McDonagh has escaped and they need to be told she should not be approached said the woman This is a dangerous woman on the loose and nothing has been said The Department of Justice said once a prisoner has been reported as unlawfully at large it becomes a police matter Police have been asked for a response Alison Michelle Martin was sentenced to life following a trial in 2006 over the murder of George McDowell in a Rathcoole flat in 2004 Her trial heard how she was alcoholic and had been drinking for several days before the killing Martin ordered her friend to leave the flat they were in before getting a knife from the kitchen and stabbing him in the neck She then left the flat and McDowell who said he was ok immediately after the assault was found dead in the morning The 47 year old had bled to death The Belfast woman always denied the murder and insisted she had been set up however a jury dismissed the theory It was revealed in court that prior to the murder Martin had two previous criminal convictions for violence on her record She was handed a life sentence for the George McDowell murder and ordered to serve at least 12 years before she could be considered for release And during an appeal in 2012 her legal team argued that evidence submitted during her trial that she had a propensity for carrying knives should not have been allowed as it didn t demonstrate she was capable of murder However appeal court judges dismissed the case Having almost served her minimum 12 year tariff Alison McDonagh as she is now known escaped Hydebank Wood Women s Prison last week while on work placement She is described as having two tattoos on her lower right arm one a ribbon saying mum and dad and the other saying Mad Mark Courtney She has green eyes and brown hair In 2009 she was mentioned in a Prison Ombudsman publication about wining third prize in a poetry competition about prison life From the web Sponsored Videos Read More Woman arrested over Edward Gibson west Belfast murder new A 56 year old woman has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a father of one in

  • Arlene Arkinson 'may have been pregnant' when she disappeared, inquest told - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk
thinks the truth will emerge Kathleen told the Belfast Telegraph The way things are going I don t know Every door I open I keep getting it closed in my face Kathleen expressed her anger at the NIO for trying to stop the release of information using a PII something usually reserved for matters of national security I want the inquest to go ahead and I want the files all released she said They should be they have to be released to go ahead with the inquest I want them released but I won t know what is going on until Monday morning Who is Theresa Villiers to close all these documents and not release them She doesn t even know us she didn t even know Arlene she doesn t even know our family She is a complete stranger to us and for her to do that I think is a disgrace She is away to America she didn t even meet me Who gives her the right to say she is going to close this She is not Arlene s mother or sister I would like for her to sit down across a table from me and say why and now she is away to America hiding Kathleen added I m not going through an inquest without Arlene s files being released The inquest is going on but why should half of it be all hidden Who are they protecting They are not protecting us they are not protecting Arlene that is against Arlene s human rights and ours Everything has to come out the truth It is very important we have finally got this inquest we need justice for Arlene Arlene was a child of 15 years of age This inquest means everything to her memory Kathleen said the inquest will last a month or more and she said it is being screened into a courtroom in Omagh to save the family having to travel to Belfast every day However she intends to go to the city for the important days Kathleen who has been critical of police handling of the case said she wanted to be present when former Chief Superintendent Eric Anderson gives evidence at the inquest Howard was acquitted of Arlene s murder by a jury that was unaware of his previous conviction for murdering a schoolgirl in south London He always remained the police s prime suspect in the Arkinson case Arlene Bernadette Arkinson lived at Drumnabey Park in the Spamount area of Castlederg She would have been approaching her 37th birthday this April Although her body was never found police launched a murder enquiry and the date of her death has officially been listed as August 8 1994 Lawyers for the Arkinson family have questioned why PII issues would be at play at Arlene s inquest which is being heard without a jury Coroner Brian Sherrard is set to hear legal submissions on the PII application tomorrow with at least part of
