that goaltender Cheverie had taken enough punishment for one night and replaced him before play restarted with Craig Holland coming into the action He was beaten with just three seconds of the second period to go when with Peacock in the penalty box Shields set up Ray Sawada to score short handed At 7 1 up Giants coach Thornton took the opportunity to change his goaltender too with Andrew Dickson entering the fray and his first task was to scoop the puck out of the back of his net Peacock had only just returned to the ice when Kevin Quick fed Sean Ringrose and he gave the Stars a dream start to the final period with a goal just 33 seconds in It turned from 7 2 to 8 2 very quickly though as Shields completed his hat trick at 41 09 finishing a one on one after being set up by Jeff Mason The Giants were unable to score during a five on three powerplay before Quick scored his second of the game at 47 17 but it was already too little too late for Dundee Westgarth took his tally for the night to two as well with another fine slapshot at 56 46 to pile even further agony on the Stars Belfast giants9 dundee stars3 Follow BelTel Sport How to Complain If you have a complaint about the editorial content of the Belfast Telegraph or Sunday Life then contact the Editor here If you are not satisfied with the response provided then you can contact the Independent Press Standards Organisation here From the web Sponsored Videos Your Comments COMMENT RULES Comments that are judged to be defamatory abusive or in bad taste are not acceptable and contributors who consistently fall below certain criteria will be permanently blacklisted The moderator will not enter into debate with individual contributors and the moderator s decision is final It is Belfast Telegraph policy to close comments on court cases tribunals and active legal investigations We may also close comments on articles which are being targeted for abuse Problems with commenting customercare belfasttelegraph co uk Powered by Livefyre Please enable JavaScript to view the comments powered by Livefyre Read More Giant strides towards a bright future as kids shine Belfast Giants faces got a glimpse into the future as their team beat Italian side Cortina 3 2 at the SSE Arena Jim Vandermeer is ready to make his Belfast Giants bow By Stuart McKinley Belfast Giants fans will get a first look at former NHL star Jim Vandermeer when they face Italian side Cortina in a weekend double header Massive cup challenge for Giants after loss to Devils By Stuart McKinley Three third period goals from the Cardiff Devils have left the Belfast Giants with a major task on their hands if they are to reach the final of the Challenge Cup Giants relishing Devils challenge blasts Walser By Stuart McKinley Derrick Walser has admitted that tomorrow night s Challenge Cup semi final
