    Fi 8th October 2007 BT and FON join up to offer free Wi Fi BT has teamed up with FON to install FON software in the BT Home Hub What the FON software does is open up a secure small part of the home broadband connection that can be shared by others who have signed up to allow others to use their broadband connection in a similar way Anyone who is signed up will then be able to use their Wi Fi devices to connect to the Internet at these other locations for no cost It is not compulsory for BT Broadband users to sign up and if they don t want to then they don t have to and won t have other people using their broadband connection unless they do sign up Any BT Broadband customer will be able to join the scheme free of charge and users of other broadband providers can also join by paying a one off charge of 30 that will get them a FON router and allow them to be part of this public wireless community Gavin Patterson BT Group managing director said We are giving our millions of Total Broadband customers a
