    in jeopardy if Scotland votes to leave the United Kingdom The ONS has released its latest Output in the Construction Industry July 2014 figures which state that output in the construction industry has showed continued year on year growth for the 14th consecutive month with an increase of 2 6 however this is at its weakest since November 2013 Yet this data also shows that new orders in the construction industry for Q2 2014 were estimated to be 3 8 higher than Q1 2014 This reported growth is also supported by the latest economic and construction market review form Barbour ABI This report shows that in July 2014 the number of construction projects in the UK increased by 9 8 in June 2014 and is now 19 1 higher than July 2013 with the majority of contracts awarded by value being in London and the South East The Nationwide House Price Index shows that house prices increased by 0 8 in August with annual price growth rising from 10 6 to 11 0 The Halifax House Price Index shows that house prices increased by 0 1 in August which means that house prices in the 3 months to August were 3 0 higher than house prices in the 3 months to May With rising house prices slowing down compared to previous months Housebuilders profits certainly are not Redrow have released their full year accounts to 30th July 2014 which shows a huge increase in pre tax profit of 91 from 64 9 million a year ago Redrow are also reporting an increase in turnover of 43 with a record turnover of 864 5 million which they say is hailed to the impact of the governments help to buy scheme Construction industry knowledge hub Construction market activity Post navigation Previous Next

    in construction for Q4 2013 were 1 5 higher than Q3 2013 The figures are led by double digit growth in both public non housing and private industrial and a 7 2 increase in private new housing supported by the Help to Buy scheme Government figures show that in the first 11 months of the Help to Buy scheme up to February 2014 there were 16 465 homes bought through Help to Buy The scheme has now been extended to 2020 just one of the announcements made in the 2014 budget that support construction This optimistic outlook is also reflected by positive reports from MPIM and also the March Markit CIPS Construction Managers Purchasing Index which remains almost unchanged from February showing a fall to 62 5 compared to February s 62 6 The index shows that housing was the best performing construction category for March It also reports that construction firms are showing the highest level of confidence about the next 12 months since January 2007 reflected by an increase in staffing levels The Nationwide House Price Index has reported that house prices increased by 0 4 in March 2014 making them 9 5 higher than March 2013 although still 3 0 below the peak in 2007 But the Halifax House Price Index reported a fall in house prices of 1 1 in the month of March 2014 At the CIMCIG Chairman s debate last month most agreed that the recovery we are seeing is sustainable but all agreed that more can be done by government associations and industry to drive the recovery on Construction industry knowledge hub Construction market activity Post navigation Previous Next Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Name Email Website You may use these HTML
