    Volunteer Puppy Socialisers Fundraisers Administration Speakers Regional Groups Apply to volunteer Contact us Volunteer news WATCH VIDEO Volunteer Can you help us with gathering samples for our amazing dogs Required for the Nantwich Cheshire area The Medical Detection Dog s team are looking for a volunteer based in the Nantwich Cheshire area to attend PSA test days to collect donated urine samples The volunteer will be required to attend scheduled test days and if any of the men taking a PSA test wish to give a urine sample to Medical detection dogs they would give the man a printed information leaflet on the project ask them to sign a consent form and complete a lifestyle questionnaire Once the paperwork is read and the consent form signed the man is given a pot and then the sample is put in to a freezer box The man is then given a thank you note for helping the charity The freezer box would then be collected the following day this may be by one of the bio detection team or we may need a volunteer driver Good clinical Practice training is desirable but not essential Travel expense will be paid Please contact dawn

    us We will cover all aspects of the role both long term and holiday cover support available and be chance for you to ask any questions and meet fellow socialisers Please let me know if you are able to come we would love to see you To book your place contact our Puppy Training Support Coordinator Pam Jones Email pam jones medicaldetectiondogs org uk or telephone 01296 655888 We need socialisers within travelling distance of the centre Milton Keynes Buckinghamshire Bedfordshire Hertfordshire We also have a small satellite in the Witney area We provide food and equipment for the puppy and cover all veterinary costs No experience is needed but you need to meet the following criteria CAN YOU Attend regular local puppy classes Be at home most of the day Follow positive dog training methods Regularly visit lots of different environments and use various forms of transport to socialised a puppy Be willing to support charity events DO YOU Have a secure dog friendly garden Have the time and stamina to manage an active puppy Have the ability to travel to classes at the centre or local area once a month We provide food and equipment for the puppy and cover all veterinary costs whilst the puppy is with you Support and advice is provided Full time foster homes We sometimes require full time foster families to look after one of our Bio detection dogs These dogs live in the home environment as a general pet dog but have special qualities that we wish to use They will need to be transported to our centre 2 3 times a week for periods of time when they are involved in training for particular projects This is mainly a long term commitment but we do need foster homes for shorter periods

    Speaker Request Event Attendance DONATE Volunteer Puppy Socialisers Fundraisers Administration Speakers Regional Groups Apply to volunteer Contact us Volunteer news Fundraisers Volunteer your time and become a fundraiser for us if you enjoy fundraising and want to make a real difference to the work we do then why not become an active fundraiser for Medical Detection Dogs You can have fun build up your CV meet lots of new friends learn new skills and contribute directly to a really worthwhile cause The Charity is funded purely by voluntary contributions without our fundraisers Medical Detection Dogs can not continue to support people with life threatening health conditions We are inviting people from all over the UK to help us fundraise whether it s collecting at a local supermarket taking part in a fun run or organizing an event It doesn t matter how much time you can give some events are one offs and others require a greater commitment but everyone can get involved Collection Box Co ordinators If you have very little spare time but would still like to make a BIG difference to the charity you could leave collection boxes with local businesses such as vets petrol stations chemists bakeries newsagents pubs hairdressers garden centres or pet shops The role of collection box co ordinator includes identifying potential box sites picking up the boxes when they are full leaving new boxes in their place and then counting and banking the money for Medical Detection Dogs Leaflet Distribution We need people to help distribute Medical Detection Dogs literature and put up posters locally to you your place of work local library garden centre school doctor or dentist surgeries as many places as possible If you are happy to identify suitable locations arrange permission with the owners and deliver supplies of

    Speakers Medical Detection Dogs need to establish a national network of speakers that work to promote awareness of the Charity and to raise funds to support and train our dogs Speakers create a regional presence The role is an important one as often this is the first time that people will of heard about the charity the work we do and the life changing difference our dogs can make As well as promoting the Charity speakers also help raise much needed funds and encourage others to help fundraise in various ways for example by leaving a legacy in their will or organising a fundraising sponsored event on our behalf This is invaluable as Medical Detection Dogs rely totally on the generosity of individuals and organisations What type of groups do speakers address Speakers visit groups such as Lions and Rotary Clubs Women s Institutes and Guilds Brownies and other similar youth groups schools etc How will I know what to talk about We have produced materials to support anyone speaking on our behalf We organise Speakers Training Days and offer the chance to visit our training centre at Great Horwood Where possible numbers permitting regional training sessions will be organised These sessions will give you the chance to meet with other speakers and staff receive up to date information training and tips on addressing audiences and sharing ideas How will I keep up to date with relevant information A newsletter is sent to all voluntary speakers giving up to date information and stories to help you keep your talk relevant and up to date You will also receive regular puppy updates and charity newsletters How many talks would you expect me to give This is entirely up to you We just ask you to do as many or as few
