probability but as we have seen before the Fed members tried to confuse markets more than reassure them on the final outcome on December 16 th If Retail Sales show a strong figure from the US this afternoon accompanied with a shock 100k better than expected Non Farm Payroll figure released last Friday it is safe to say that all eyes will point to a hike in December Elsewhere in Europe yesterday ECB boss Mario Draghi again hinted and strengthened speculation that he is about to fire another stimulus missile to kick start the sluggish Eurozone Economy He stated that inflation dynamics have somewhat weakened mainly due to lower oil prices and the delayed effects of the stronger Euro exchange rate seen earlier this year GBP EUR 1 4125 GBP USD 1 5212 GBP CHF 1 5261 GBP JPY 186 72 GBP AUD 2 has begun conducting his press conference earlier than usual this morning in Brussels The Euro initially weakened by over 50 pips as a result To briefly summarise Draghi has stated data confirms that the Eurozone recovery is progressing moderately however downside economic risks are clearly visible and signs of a sustained turnaround in core inflation have somewhat weakened due to lower oil price and delayed reaction to stronger euro He s also hinted of more Monetary Stimulus These remarks have proved to be of particular importance and triggered the market reaction The ECB President will also speak on separate matters at 10 30am so it may be worth being cautious at this time as further volatility is possible A main consideration for the US Federal Open Market Committee when it came to making their interest rate decision was the health of the global economy Information has come to light to suggest that the slowdown is now easing partly as a result of an improvement in Chinese Imports which have turned positive in the second half of the year This is reinforced by an extremely optimistic Non Farm Payroll figure and bright unemployment figures for both the US and the UK The FOMC s October statement made clear that a US interest rate rise would be under active consideration in December and it is predicted that the markets are now pricing in a 2 3 chance GBP EUR 1 4124 GBP November 2015 Super User News 0 comment In or Out there s a lot to think about David Cameron proposed some of his key reforms for Europe should the UK remain a member state yesterday but has come under some criticism both at home and abroad One of the key points he raised was regarding restricting welfare benefits for migrants coming to the UK which was met with strong opposition from the continent The proposals were called highly problematic because they are contradictory to the fundamental freedoms of our Europe s internal market Mark Carney has previously said that no matter what the outcome he can and will make it work for Britain but what effect will the outcome of this vote have on your business With potential dates starting from May 2016 and with the outcome far from clear it would certainly be worth talking about protecting business as early as possible The one thing that can be guaranteed is the level of uncertainty the vote will bring to the strength of the Pound and currency markets alike surrounding both the outcome of the vote and also what ultimate effects being in or out will have Later today the heads of the Bank of England and the European Central Bank both speak and markets will specifically be looking for further clues as to Draghi s QE program Having previously hinted at extending the existing program clues as to when and by how much will be highlighted with significant importance GBP EUR 1 4098 GBP USD 1 5139 GBP CHF 1 5203 GBP JPY 186 41 GBP AUD 2 1457 GBP NZD 2 3114 GBP CAD 2 009 GBP ZAR 21 4927 GBP NOK 13 0353 GBP SEK 13 128 EUR USD 1
