    en Vlijt Liberty of Ruez Spirit of Joan Julian White Sands Crazy Diamond Rocador Boojum Diamond Kairos Marili La Boheme Wanted Links Contact News Search You are here Home Archive Boats Coquet Coquet SOLD A 1945 River Class Launch built for the Royal Army Service Corps by The British Power Boat Co of Hythe Southampton Overall Length 44 6 Waterline 41 10 Beam 13 6 Draught 3 Displacement 9 25 tons Engine Twin 135 hp Daewoo Diesel Engines Designer R A C S Builder The British Power Boat Co Location West Country Sail n a Berths 8 9 berths Year 1945 Price 25 000 Broker s Details Coquet is one of about forty River Class Launches built for the Royal Army Service Corp for general military duties which included VIP transport and target towing many were shipped to outposts around the world About eleven or twelve examples are known to have survived and Coquet must be one of the best available following a comprehensive restoration and refit Coquet has an interesting service history which began on 27th October 1945 when she was delivered to 42 WT unit in Yarmouth Isle of Wight She was transferred to Portsmouth later that year and seconded to 615 WT Coy On 3rd July 1948 Coquet was transferred to Plymouth and 644 WT Coy From 1948 to 1957 she served with 23 WT Coy and 1957 to 1958 71 WT Coy Up to 1960 she became a WTT Training Coy at Yarmouth IOW then transferring to 71 WT Coy between 1960 and 1962 thence land cradled at Hilsea until de commissioned in 1963 and sold to Mr H Trollope of Swansea The current owner discovered Coquet in Cornwall where she had been taken by H Trollope to take part in film work After the film contract fell through Coquet still largely in original condition with her Perkins S6M engines became neglected In May 2003 she was brought around the coast to North Devon to start a full two year back to bare wood restoration New machinery engines gearboxes shafts electrics navigation equipment hydraulic steering galley and systems were replaced professionally Following the full refit Coquet spent the summer months on trips to West Wales Scilly Isles North Devon to Dover and a two month trip through the French Canals Double skin mahogany construction copper fastened to oak timbers and frames Sheathed marine ply decks Long keel transom stern raked flared bow hard chine semi planing hull FORE LOCKER Rope Chain stowage deck hatch and escape hatch from foreward cabin FORE CABIN Settee bunks to accommodate four Drop leaf table GALLEY Stainless steel sink unit fridge microwave gas cooker with oven and grill HEADS COMPARTMENT Marine WC shower wash basin pressurised water system with hot water via port engine and immersion heater WHEELHOUSE Port helm position with instrumentation and console morse engine controls Icom m601 VHF radio Raymarine C12 chart plotter radar scanner Raymarine auto pilot Navico DL 150 speed log 12 24 volt fuse box
