    third to a massive 1300 square feet with the changing rooms doubling in size and receiving a complete makeover Robert Kellow Managing Director at RG Kellow said We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with such a significant organisation on this exciting project Carn Brea Leisure Centre has been at the heart of our community employees and their families for generations and we have all been looking forward to seeing the finished result The traditional ribbon cutting to formally open the new facilities was carried out by two of the Charity s longest standing gym members Laura West and Floss Wilson Floss who has been attending the centre for over twenty years said The new gym is marvellous and has completely exceeded my expectations it s so much bigger and brighter than before and at the grand age of 92 I can t wait to try out all the new equipment and catch up with my friends The three month project marks the first step of a refreshed re development strategy the local charity has put in place to enhance the centre s facilities Alex Clifton the Trust s Chief Operating Officer updated We are delighted to have completed the project on time and also excited to open such an amazing health fitness space during a time of year when the local community are traditionally focused on their health The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive so far and we would like to thank all our customers for being so understanding of the disruption over the last three months and hope that the end result has been worth it Mr Clifton added The Board of Trustees and management team have been working hard behind the scenes to put together a sustainable re investment plan that delivers a better

    from our window and sometimes without windows at all and we are beginning to feel the effects of this In a recent report by Human Spaces a third of people questioned stated that the design of an office would affect their decision to work somewhere listing natural light then indoor plants as the most important elements in a desirable workplace And they have good reason to want these simple things the report also found that those who work in environments with natural elements greenery and sunlight report higher levels of wellbeing productivity and creativity Other reports including one by NASA have found that Sick Building symptoms such as sore throats headaches and stress are noticeably reduced by the presence of live plants One reason for their healing powers is that plants clean the air of many of the volatile organic compounds VOCs emitted by modern office furnishing paints and electronic goods which have a knock on effect on our health Having plants in an office has been found to considerably reduce symptoms such as fatigue headaches sore throats and coughs often brought about by poor air quality And if you still need convincing here are some more plant facts Plants can reduce fatigue by 20 coughs by 40 headaches by 30 and sore throats by 30 Enriching an office with plants could increase workplace productivity by 15 People working indoors with plants in their line of vision do tasks a staggering 12 faster and are able to concentrate better than people who don t have plants in the room Having a plant nearby has been proven to increase productivity for people who sit and work at a computer for more than four hours per day Plants also help with workplace productivity by absorbing noise great for open plan offices Here

    Managing Director of Lovely Cake is out of the office working from home and in meetings himself a lot which means that he doesn t have enough time to check that his work and strategy is in line with Joe s expectations This makes Dan nervous and so he lacks confidence about the decisions he is making day to day Lovely Cake Cornwall Ltd have clearly spent a lot of time working on their inclusiveness and diversity issues by giving male and female employees the freedom they need to work around their personal commitments They also support a pay and benefit structure which is above quartile However something still isn t right So what is going wrong Whilst Lovely Cake have their workplace structure and remuneration right they haven t addressed the behaviours of their employees within this structure It s a little bit like taking a horse to water You can offer the right structure to enable your employees to make the right decisions and change their behaviour but you can t make them change So how do employers change behaviour It s difficult however it can be done Putting in place a framework which forces employees to think about their actions is a start Getting them to change their actions is the next step Reflecting on those actions and how they have helped is then vital to sustained change and brings about cultural shift The HYLI model focusses on employees making four daily choices which are logged in a small private journal One choice is to improve their health one is to do something for themselves You one is to help others Love and one is to increase their Intelligence Simple in design when practised daily this frame work can lead to employees making decisions which lead to

    other soft tissue Now we know what it is how does it work There are a few theories as to how Bowen actually works one of the most accepted is as follows The brain is continually sending out and receiving thousands of signals to the body each second Just to move your arm to drink you tea your brain must send a signal down your spinal cord to your arm and hand where is it converted into action As you pick up your tea your brain receives information allowing it to decide how much force to apply Back goes the signal to your arm and hand and so on If you touch the mug of tea and it s too hot a pain response is triggered another signal All of these signals happen very quickly creating a fluid movement or pull your arm back to stop you burning yourself Added to these types of signal are other signals from your connective tissue One type of connective tissue is almost like a spider s web that runs through and around your muscles called fascia This plays a major role in muscle co ordination postural alignment and overall structural integrity When you pick something up your muscles and connective tissue are responding to your brains requests If it hurts it is your muscles and connective tissue that send this information back to the brain It is thought that Bowen interferes with the signals that are sent to our brain forcing the brain to reinterpret the information it is receiving This can encourage the brain to look the problem area and decide what it needs to do to help this could be by releasing tension increasing flexibility or something else Once the brain reinterprets the signals from one area it can start to
