  • Sharp's Big Run Makes Strides For Marine Conservation - Cornwall Business Show
    the runners along the famous and naturally beautiful Camel Trail running from Wenfordbridge to Padstow harbour The entry fee and sponsorship money raised will go to the National Lobster Hatchery to help their continued work in education conservation and research Runners that have their sights on the London marathon later in the year set themselves personal challenges in The Super Serious Run whilst families friends and those just eager to take part opted for the more leisurely but equally important shorter courses in The Serious Run and The Little Run Now in its third year those who have entered before can come back to beat last year s personal best Keeping away from traffic The Big Run is an off road flat trail run that winds through stunning countryside and follows the beautiful River Camel through to the mouth of the estuary And if that wasn t incentive enough to take part the runners each received a free pint of Sharp s Beer to celebrate finishing their race Sarah Coates event organizer said The aim is to inspire locals and visitors to utilise this amazing natural resource on their doorstep with a hope to create a fun personal challenge whilst raising money for local charities that support our fragile coastal communities I want to say a massive thanks to our sponsor Sharp s Brewery and all the volunteers who helped make this event happen James Nicholls Sharp s Brewery Senior Brand Manager added We are proud of our home here in Cornwall and the local spirit to support each other and raise money for charities We were really thrilled to be able to support The Big Run again this year This year s winners were Super Serious Run Gareth Smith 1 48 02 Rachel Bunting 2 02 50 Serious Run

  • PC Andy Hocking bronze footprints unveiled in Cornish port - Cornwall Business Show
    the project by providing services in kind design company 20 20 artist Natasha Ratcliffe and Tim Marsh Stone Merchants collaborated on the design and manufacture while Cormac and Tim Griffin Stonemasons have undertaken the installation works Falmouth s Mayor Cllr John Body Chief Constable of Devon Cornwall Police Shaun Sawyer Falmouth BID Manager Richard Wilcox and Town Manager Richard Gates joined the Hocking family and local police officers to unveil the first set of footprints on the Moor in Falmouth The other footprint locations all mark key points on Andy s patch Market Street outside Marks Spencer Church Street corner Pendennis Point and Western Avenue adjacent to King Charles School The cast for the bronze was actually taken from a pair of Andy s work boots with the left footprint bearing his name and rank PC Andy Hocking while the right highlights his shoulder number 4270 Following the unveiling Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer presented PC Hocking s shoulder badge to Falmouth which was accepted by Mayor Cllr John Body Falmouth s Mayor Cllr John Body said I cannot think of a more fitting memorial to Andy and to recognise the special place he holds in our town The plaques are sited at spots where Andy with his infectious smile would regularly be seen I m pleased that his contribution to our town as the epitome of local policing is now retained for posterity Sally Hocking said I feel so lucky to have had Andy as my best friend and husband for so many years I miss him constantly and like everybody in Falmouth I look for him in all his usual places when I m walking through the town These amazing footprints will continue to remind me that he is never far away from us Myself Meg Gracie Liz Harry

    23 2015 by Andrew Weaver filed under Business News Events Cornish marine businesses are set to benefit from funded short courses during this autumn and winter Cornwall Marine Network CMN the business support agency for the County s marine industry is organising the courses financed through the Learning Partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly CMN is calling for marine businesses to come forward who would like to benefit from this opportunity to upgrade their skills Kate Reed General Manager of Training at CMN said This is a great chance for the Cornish marine sector to participate in courses that can really support their skills development minimum time out of the office with maximum learning on subjects that can make a big difference to their growth prospects and profitability CMN marine members will receive their training fully funded whilst non members of the Network can benefit from heavily subsidised rates or subscribe to the Network We d welcome any marine business who isn t a member yet to join in and invite them to contact us to find out more about the courses and the other ways in which we can support their activities The Marine Network has organised a series of courses covering subjects including e marketing sales management and I T Kate Reed added Additionally marine businesses can request specific training and CMN will look to fulfil those needs The investment forms part of a gap funding initiative from the Learning Partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly whilst the County waits for new skills related funds through the European financed Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Growth Programme Tags Business News Cornwall Business Show Events Comments are closed Recent Posts The key to a proper holiday How much do you know about your spine Eight

  • ‘Impressive and well-run event,’ say exhibitors at Cornwall Business Show - Cornwall Business Show
    key times I am very pleased with how it s gone said Andrew James Holder who is Business and Fleet Centre Manager for West End Motors said they were delighted with their results This was the second year we d attended and this time we had an indoor display and it worked really well for us We were right by the A Bite of Cornwall area so people could walk around our display with a coffee and take their time looking at our cars and vans It was a really good relaxed environment and as a consequence we made plenty of good contacts We were also pleased that we met significant numbers of new people so that was particularly valuable I also made the best of the event by taking advantage of the networking opportunities so that was positive too If we can get a similar slot we would definitely like to exhibit at next year s show said James Tim Puffer who with his wife Liz runs training company In Safe Hands chose Cornwall Business Show to celebrate their business anniversary Tim said It was 10 years almost to the day since we had started the company so we were there celebrating with our fizz and cupcakes The company took six members of staff along on the day which enabled them to take part in all aspects of the show including the speed networking and seminars as well as manning their own stand We ve exhibited at all but one of the Cornwall Business Shows to date and I think it s got to the point with us where we don t so much ask ourselves what we ve gained by being there but what we would lose by not being there said Tim As far as we re
