    up too cold and you wake up A comfortable temperature is between 15 19 C but it does vary according to each individual Tip 4 It is great to have some fresh air circulating with an open window but make sure you are warm enough Noise Noise can disturb your sleeping pattern no matter how brief or quiet Sometimes noise can come from unusual sources a whistling plug or bubbling radiator so try to check your room for noise before you go to bed Other sources of noise can be right in your ear such as a snoring partner Tip 5 If you can t remove the noise try ear plugs or something that will produce a continuous noise such as a fan or a white noise machine If you sleep with your phone or pad next to you put it onto flight mode or silent so that the 2am email newsletter doesn t pull you out of sleep Comfort We all have those times when it is just impossible to get comfy If this is a regular occurrence for you consider changing your mattress life expectancy is generally approximately 10 years or change your pillow If you are waking up through the night due to low grade pain this is your first thing to check If your pillow and mattress are supportive but you are still waking up in pain book in for a session of Bowen Therapy Tip 6 Make sure your mattress is comfy and supportive and that your pillow isn t giving you neck ache Darkness Light tells your brain that it s time to wake up darkness means it s time to sleep Even a small amount of ambient light from your phone or tablet can disrupt the production of melatonin and overall sleep If you need to visit the bathroom at night it is best to keep the light as low as possible If it is safe to do so use a torch rather than turn on the landing light This will make it easier to go back to sleep afterwards Tip 7 Make your room as dark as possible at night try using a black out blind or use an eye mask Bedtime Ritual A relaxing routine activity right before bedtime away from bright lights helps to distinguish your sleep time from daily activities that can cause excitement stress or anxiety Relaxing your brain can make it easier to fall asleep get sound and deep sleep or remain asleep This means not storing tomorrows to do list in your head rather than jotting it down Relaxing activities can include a warm drink not caffeine reading a book or magazine listening to calming quiet music wind down with a favorite hobby not to tasking for the brain do some gentle stretches focusing on your breathing you get the idea Tip 8 Come up with your own set of rituals to help you wind down and prepare your mind and body for sleep Have a

  • ‘Community Heating Project of the Year’ connects Cornish company to national success - Cornwall Business Show
    ground source heat pumps in 133 sheltered bungalows over 15 separate sites in Staffordshire Tenants are already reporting energy bills reduced by as much as 50 whilst Trent Dove Housing has also confirmed that tenant health and well being has also improved Kensa calculates that tenant electricity costs will be reduced by a total of over 50 000 per year at an average of 390 per resident The average electrical energy consumption of each property is expected to drop by 75 producing an annual CO2 saving of 2 8 tonnes of carbon dioxide tCO2 Chris Davis Kensa s Commercial Director said As a Cornish business we are particularly delighted that this ground breaking project has been recognised by the wider heating and renewables community as an exemplar application of ground source heat pumps at scale it is an exciting and new direction for our technology which historically is better known for its individual applications in private dwellings The project saw the installation of a ground source heat pump and new heating system in each of the 133 homes with small clusters of 2 5 homes then connected via a series of communal boreholes The system approach is recognised by DECC and Ofgem as district heating and qualified the project for Energy Company Obligation ECO funding and 20 years of income via the Non Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive RHI equating in total to 2 3m of income for Trent Dove Housing more than offsetting the 1 8m investment In honour of the award win Kensa Heat Pumps have released a film which documents the scheme via a series of candid interviews with tenants and Trent Dove Director of Property Services Steve Grocock One star of the film Mr Carter remarks There is no comparison to this system and the night storage
