  • Why Not Turn Your Workforce into a Sales force?
a product or service it exists to sell a product or service Fulfillment is simply the by product of the sale No sale no business it s that simple and it always has been The Wasted Resource The most under utilised resource in most businesses is the sales potential of the workforce Anyone in your organisation who is client or customer facing should be trained to recognise sales opportunities and have simple processes in place to take advantage of these opportunities So what does that mean in practice Well if you ve ever been asked in a fast food outlet if you wanted to upgrade your order to a meal deal then you have experienced this in action An operative is up selling without any concern for how it looks or any attachment to the outcome It doesn t seem like a pitch to them or to the customer they do it simply because that s what they were trained to do as part of the order taking process This is a crude example but the principle holds true for any business and for fast food outlets it generates millions in additional income Once the workforce is trained to be sales focused opportunities are everywhere and can be recognised by using nothing more complicated than a checklist From the electrician installing lighting who does a quick check to make sure the system is safe and up to code to the hotel receptionist offering to book a new guest a table for dinner All that is required is a sales focused business a little training and the creation of a few simple processes How hard is this to implement Not hard at all lets look at that electrician On all of their quotes the company points out that they will draw to the attention of the client any wiring that is unsafe or not up to current standards The operative is aware of this and as part of his pre finish checklist he has to tick a box to say he has done a visual inspection If he sees something that needs attention he doesn t have to make the sale he simply has to ask a question and note the response I noticed that the main fuse board is no longer compliant would you like me to get the office to give you a quote for a replacement And that s it Not difficult not expensive and very effective An occasional follow up visit from a supervisor to make sure that there really was nothing that could have been pointed out will keep the process fresh and in existence This is what sales focus means it requires constantly looking for ways that we can serve our clients and build our business Providing good service is always important but without a sales focus to your business you won t get the chance You might want to look at some of the opportunities you are missing put some processes in place and

  • British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) response to Conservative’s Small Business Manifesto
see closed For example what does it mean to respond to the airports commission We need more than a response we need action to expand our airport capacity The proposals for a permanent increase in the Annual Investment Allowance and cuts to red tape set the right mood music but we need to see the details to understand how they will be translated into action which helps our SMEs The one element we would like to see more of is support for established businesses looking to scale up It is great to help start ups but they are not the only businesses in need of support Post navigation Previous Post Corporate Challenge Day Next Post The Clean Cornwall Business Pledge Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website Search for Recent Posts BCC Welcome deficit reduction in March but huge task still lies ahead A financial controller from a Truro based organisation has gained chartered status after completing three years of studying BCC Disappointing retail sales reinforce concerns of slowing economy New Tax Year Offers Tax Savings BCC comments on labour market statistics Recent Comments Mark George on
