  • Positive GDP figures but major imbalances remain
While the upgrade in growth is positive some of the details are concerning and highlight the need to shift our economy towards a more sustainable model As in recent quarters services and consumer spending were the main drivers of the economy But while a healthy consumer sector is vital to the UK economy it is clear we need a greater contribution from exports and investment It is therefore concerning that business investment fell last quarter and the current account deficit remains unacceptably large despite slight improvements in the trade balance The next government must do more to back long term business investment and support British exporters Post navigation Previous Post Five ways to turn your Chamber of Commerce membership into sales Next Post Cornwall Business Week 2015 Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website Search for Recent Posts BCC Welcome deficit reduction in March but huge task still lies ahead A financial controller from a Truro based organisation has gained chartered status after completing three years of studying BCC Disappointing retail sales reinforce concerns of slowing economy New Tax Year Offers Tax Savings BCC comments on labour
