  • Royal Mail price increases - DT Craft & Design
customers placing small orders nor being cost prohibitive for larger orders One issue we have to accomodate is some of our more inexpensive products such as mordants and fixers are also very heavy We have never attempted to make money from postage only to cover our costs and break even which across the years we have always managed to do However the impacts of the Royal Mail s latest price changes are proving a little more challenging to assess With reluctance we have with immediate effect raised the prices of our higher postage brackets so if your order costs between 20 00 and 49 99 the new charge is 4 75 and between 50 00 and 99 99 it is now 5 75 The lowest price bracket up to 19 99 remains unchanged at 2 95 and orders for 100 or over are still post free Our terms conditions have said to allow 10 days for delivery however we have always used first class post so many orders arrive the next day Again with reluctance we will have to use second class postage for orders under 1kg For orders over 1kg we are currently assessing whether to use first class postage or Royal Mail parcels depending upon which gives the most cost effective service If you need an order urgently please get in touch and we will be able to quote you an additional cost for first class or special next day delivery If we can in anyway reduce our postage costs by the use of alternative services or by increasing the price bands we offer then we will do so and will pass these savings straight on to you as our customers As we said above we have never attempted to make money from postage only to cover our

  • Wonderwool Wales 2012 - DT Craft & Design
make some new ones as well Lots of you took advantage of our show offer of 10 off the price of all undyed yarns and and it was great to meet so many newsletter subscribers who benefitted from an additional 5 off everything At Wonderwool Wales 2011 visitors were melting in the heat but the weather was certainly a bit different this year Saturday was dry but Sunday was very cold and wet Well done to everyone who struggled through to the show on the second day especially when one road was blocked by not one but two fallen trees We were both very grateful for all Debbie s hand dyed and knitted samples on the stall most of which we were wearing by the end of the day We would like to say a special thank you to Preseli Coffee Roasters for keeping us going with fabulous fairly traded lattes and creamy hot chocolate The Welsh Assemby regulations that require retailers to charge 5p for use once carrier bags are clearly effective as nearly everyone had brought their own bags It just goes to show we can all do it if pushed Hopefully the rest of the UK will introduce similar legislation to help educate us all in to better habits regarding carrier bags As a special thank you we also gave all of our customers who spent over 20 a free cotton shopping bag to take away their purchases so there s no excuse to be using disposable carrier bags when you get home from the show Our apologies if you found our stall a little congested at times but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we had a smaller stall than planned Hopefully we got to speak to you eventually and thank you for your patience

  • Hand spun guinea pig sock yarn - DT Craft & Design
cavies it s a bespoke sock yarn hand spun by Debbie from hairs shed by our very own house pig Ruby We currently stock Angorgeous Fibres Smooth Silky angora rabbit mohair yarn but developing guinea pig yarn proved quite a challenge as Debbie explains Guinea pigs have hair rather than fur and Ruby is a short haired pig However by blending her hair with our nylon tops I managed to make the combined fibres long enough to spin into a delightful yarn The nylon adds durability which is important for a sock yarn Collecting Ruby s hair proved another challenge as shearing wasn t an option Pete developed a technique which involves him holding Ruby while wearing a thick cotton shirt Any loose hairs stick to the pile of the shirt and can be easily collected afterwards with a stiff brush Pete says Ruby loves being handled and is always rewarded with a food treat so it s a completely guinea pig friendly yarn The hand spun guinea pig yarn will be sold under the brand name Día de tontos after the rather exotic name by which guinea pigs are known in their native country Peru In time Debbie hopes
