    days out 7 More Exmoor Facts 5 Places to see spring on Exmoor 5 Exmoor Pubs winter warmers 4 Valentine s Day Alternatives 5 Key Species to look out for on Exmoor 5 Top Picnic Spots 5 Sporting Suggestions 4 Unusual Exmoor animals 4 Exmoor beer gardens 4 key Somerset cricket players 4 Coastal days out 4 Exmoor Events for June July 6 History and Heritage days out around Exmoor 10 Facts on marshes Porlock Marsh Welly boot show comes to Exmoor Published by Duddings in Somerset Holiday Cottages 22 7 2014 15 42 36 Tags Somerset Holiday Cottages For the first time ever next month a special welly boot show is set to come to Exmoor The inaugural Great Exmoor Welly Boot Show will take place in Simonsbath on August 17 with plenty going on for visitors to enjoy The reason the show s being held is because whether you call them gumboots wellies wellingtons rubber boots galoshes or anything else wellies are a part of life on Exmoor So if you re looking for something to do near our Somerset holiday cottages on August 17 why not head along to the festival The show organised by the team behind the Bogtastic Festival is free to attend and includes competitions which anyone can take part in The Best in Shoe contest will see visitors invited to turn up in a decorated pair of wellies which will then be judged by special judges At the end of the day the wearers of the best decorated wellies will be given a special prize There will also be workshops where you can turn your old wellies into mini flower gardens by filling them with soil and planting seeds or flowers in them The show is open to all and is wonderful opportunity

    Exmoor animals 4 Exmoor beer gardens 4 key Somerset cricket players 4 Coastal days out 4 Exmoor Events for June July 6 History and Heritage days out around Exmoor 10 Facts on marshes Porlock Marsh A taste of Hungary as bistro opens its doors in Combe Martin Published by Duddings in Somerset Accommodation 29 5 2014 11 39 30 Tags large self catering accommodation Somerset Great news for people who love to give something new and exciting in the food department a try and this is just the thing if you re visiting with all the family in large self catering accommodation Somerset The wonderful new bistro that has opened its doors to the public serving delicious home cooking from Hungary is on the menu as Combe Martin near Ilfracombe welcomes the arrival of Nanna s Kitchen The new Hungarian café and bistro can be found at Hangman Path in the ideal location next to the seaside is run by Ildi McIndoe from Appledore and in doing so is proudly achieving her lifelong ambition by opening Nanna s kitchen for the public Ildi has lived in England for the mmajority of her life since she moved here in the 1950 s but she s never lost that love for her native Hungary and its cuisine She even set up a series of Hungarian Supper Clubs at various North Devon venues Ildi and her family made the move to North Devon permanent over six years ago after spending decades taking holidays here and in those years since she moved to the region she discovered that many people had a fondness for Hungarian cuisine The menu in Nanna s kitchen serves up a mouth watering range for people to enjoy including pancakes flatbread paprikás csirke which is a chicken in paprika sauce

    Minehead Harbour West Somerset Duddings News Weather updates with Minehead s Harbour Master The storm which is currently blowing its way across the UK has got us hiding out in our cosy and warm Minehead holiday cottages and rather than head out in this weather we ve been keeping track of what s going on by following MineheadHarbour on Twitter It s the official Twitter account for Minehead Harbour obviously and is used by the harbour master Adam James He s been a busy man with the weather that we ve head even though Minehead Harbour is one of the most sheltered harbours in Devon Cornwall and Somerset In the last few days Adam s been tweeting about how he had to recover a sunken boat from the harbour and also about a tree which has blown down on Minehead Esplanade All of which is really interesting to us and it s one of the reasons we re following him Plus Adam usually tweets loads of other interesting bits and pieces including news about events around the harbour and lots of amazing pictures of the coast and sea around Minehead It shows how important the harbour is to life in the town and how it hosts lots of events The next one up isn t for some time but it s a good one The Minehead Harbour Festival is on July 20 and sees the Fisherman s quarter filled with fun and laughter There s a pirate party and live bands as well as lots of arts and crafts material and produce for sale at a large market There ll also be Celebrity ships visiting the harbour Just a few weeks later there s the Minehead Summer Festival and then the Minehead to Watchet raft festival at the end of
