    Exmoor animals 4 Exmoor beer gardens 4 key Somerset cricket players 4 Coastal days out 4 Exmoor Events for June July 6 History and Heritage days out around Exmoor 10 Facts on marshes Porlock Marsh Tarr Steps set for repairs after Defra hand out Published by Duddings in Exmoor 21 5 2014 16 29 31 Tags Exmoor Self Catering For visitors coming to self catering Exmoor holiday cottages for a vacation who enjoy the beautiful landmarks and destinations locally the announcement that Exmoor National Park will receive hundreds of thousands of pounds to repair paths fences and roads damaged by winter storms will come as welcome news There are several areas that are due to see works carried out on them and one of the major sites earmarked for repair works paid for by the Defra hand out is the famous Tarr Steps circular footpath This is a tremendously popular location for locals and visitors alike which draws many thousands of visitors to the moor s famous clapperbridge every year Lord de Mauley the Environment Minister revealed that between them the Exmoor and Dartmoor national park authorities have received just short of 250 000 in funding from Defra the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs in order for staff to carry out imperative repairs following the worst winter floods and storms on record The adverse weather caused damage to bridleways footpaths bridges and locks in as many as five of the UK s national parks and in total Defra has provided almost 400 000 after getting applications from the authorities worst affected for assistance On Exmoor the much loved Tarr Steps Circuit is among the first to be designated for repair Prior to the winter storms taking hold Exmoor National Park Authority s chief executive Dr Nigel Stone was
