    6 History and Heritage days out around Exmoor 10 Facts on marshes Porlock Marsh Local llama farmer wins coveted national award Published by Duddings in Somerset 8 10 2013 10 21 17 Local llama farmer wins coveted national award Great news for the county of Somerset this week If you ve ever travelled through the area to your holiday cottage in Somerset then you may have seen this particular pet dotted around in some of the fields Not a native of this country but a popular import nonetheless Somerset llama farmer Caroline Pembro and her son Harry who is 9 years old are currently celebrating their success of this well loved four legged friend at a national event after exhibiting their esteemed pets The National Championships which is the most prestigious event on the calendar for llama farmers across the nation was held over two days at the Royal County of Berkshire Showground in Newberry Triumphant Caroline said this year s show saw an especially good attendance as it attracted over 40 llamas from a selection of counties across England such as Herefordshire Nottinghamshire and Oxfordshire as well as Dorset and Gloucestershire not to mention Somerset too Caroline and Harry who are from Oakhill took four llamas that they exhibited From the llamas they exhibited they achieved three of the top awards and they also brought an assortment of rosettes home as well Caroline said Being the National Championships it was fantastic to do so well particularly against such strong competition I was also really proud of Harry who was awarded the Armitage Challenge Cup for amassing the highest number of points across all the classes with his llama Riley Ollie the llama who is somewhat of a local celebrity and is known for his various appearances at clubs schools
