    PC off Should I turn my PC off After reading an interesting BBC article about the amount of power consumed leaving devices on standby this also raised again the question of whether it s best to turn your home or office equipment off overnight There are several arguments for and against doing this as we see it Turn it off Turning off equipment saves energy which ultimately helps the environment and keeps electricity bills down when done cumulatively An off computer is also a safe computer there s no way that the computer can be remotely hijacked or attacked by a virus while it s off Monitors should always be switched off to prevent screen burn and prolong the life of the screen Leave it on Leaving your equipment on can save wear and tear Electronic devices notoriously fail most often when they are being turned on or off so it s safer to leave them on Power saving and hibernation can be used to conserve power without turning the equipment off completely Cumulatively waiting for a computer to boot up can take a long time and over the course of a few years this could add up to days

    us here RSS Feed Make a comment about this article EDi helps University realise its vision Realising our Vision RoV is the transformation of the University of Salford These reforms aim to put the University at the leading edge of higher education institutions in this country EDinteractive were approached to create the website branding and brochure for this high profile project in conjunction with our colleagues within Enterprise and Development All images for the project were shot and crafted by local photographer Andrew Brooks The website and brochure has been received with excellent feedback from within the University The project features clear content about the goals of RoV and is set off by the excellent imagery Andrew extensively photographed various areas of the University and then worked on the images to create maximum impact which was crucial for the project EDi then crafted a brochure and website to best publicise the reforms taking place and utilise these images within the University style The University of Salford Registrar and Secretary Dr Adrian Graves and Joanne Robinson from Realising our Vision Communications commented From our initial idea to final delivery we have worked closely with EDi at every stage of this project
