    equipped with tools although you are welcome to bring your own Although the workshop is spacious we take no more than 8 students on our jewelery courses and jewellery classes to allow for a more intimate friendly atmosphere and a superb student teacher ratio on the weekend courses there will always be two tutors At Flux n Flame we run Jewellery making courses from 1 day tasters to 3 day weekends as well as a 6 day summer school and regular weekly jewellery classes throughout the year We cater for all abilities from absolute beginners to those with more experience Our Jewellery making Courses are as flexible as possible in their approach we don t tell you what you have to make but instead you are guided in whatever you choose to do and receive individual tuition at a pace suited to you So everyone works on their own projects at their own pace which has the extra benefit of creating a fabulously diverse range of techniques within one course In addition to general precious jewellery making techniques covering skills such as piercing soldering forming reticulation and forging you can experiment with casting techniques acid etching stone setting chain making the list is endless We have a good stock of silver gold copper and semi precious stones which can be purchased throughout the course As well as the moral and technical support we offer a bit of home comfort in the form of endless cups of tea coffee and biscuits and on weekend jewellery workshops a snack lunch is included in the price We also have a range of complimetary jewellery courses to add to your skills From enamelling to working with resins there s lots of fab ways to experiment with different metals and techniques Jewellery courses click here

    working with all types of metal from steel and aluminium to silver and gold A fascination for sculptural forms from cars motorcycles and hotrods to architecture and sculpture has led him to adapt his skills to design and create jewellery inspired by these themes often strong and simplistic in form with accents of texture or colour Being highly skilled in metal forming forging techniques Al loves the challenge of creating three dimensional forms He always focuses on the aesthetics of each individual piece making sure it works in combination with it s usability and comfort Al has been working as a professional jewellery designer for over 12 years and has been teaching and running Flux n Flame alongside his wife Jesa since 2003 Al also relishes his position as creative director within Flux n Flame in addition to Al and Jesa s most recent joint venture Evermore a collaboration of twisted imaginations through which new collections of jewellery and other oddities are created Als current Hot Rod is a wonderfully evocative range of designs with its heart lying in the 50 s passion for custom cars and hot rod racing To see some of the things he does when he s not making jewellery have a look at Al s other work Al works to commission as well as producing work for galleries shops exhibitions Checkout our Etsy shop below Heidi Dawson After studying Design Technology and Art at A Level Heidi went to Bournemouth Arts Institute to complete a Foundation Diploma Her love of creating beautiful three dimensional objects took hold so she specialised in 3D Design before heading to University Heidi successfully studied for a B Ed Hons in Design and Technology and became a secondary school teacher She has been teaching Resistant Materials and Graphics at Corfe

  • Summer Jewellery School 2014 at Flux 'n' Flame Jewellery School, Jewellery Course
    gold You will end your week with a series of preparatory drawings and or maquette s and the finished piece of jewellery as well as hopefully a large smile This course is open to all levels of experience from complete beginners to the more advanced we will also give guidance on working to commission and setting up in business for those who wish to take their skills further As with all our courses there are only eight spaces available and with two of us teaching we can give everyone the maximum attention SATURDAY We will go out into the Dorset countryside location TBC with a picnic weather permitting where you can sketch the beautiful scenery or flora collect textures and interesting objects YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ABLE TO DRAW HONESTLY but you do need sensible shoes SUNDAY We will gather our exciting sketches and objects together and begin to translate them into jewellery ideas Producing rough sketches and scribbles which we can then translate into a final drawing or three dimensional model MONDAY In the morning beginners will make a simple ring in order to familiarize themselves with the basic jewellery making techniques After this we will commence
