    period of time must hold a current Paediatric First Aid certificate Paediatric First Aid Training see addendum 18 must be relevant for workers caring for young children and where relevant babies Providers should take into account the number of children staff and layout of premises to ensure that a Paediatric First Aider is able to respond to emergencies quickly Paragraph 3 25 addendum 18 Providers can choose which organisation they wish to provide the training preferably one with a nationally approved and accredited first aid qualification or one that is a Member of a Trade Body with an approval and monitoring scheme but the training must cover the course content as for St John Ambulance or Red Cross paediatric first aid training and be renewed every 3 years The First Aid Industry Body FAIB is a Trade Body with an approval and monitoring scheme Please note the FAIB Paediatric First Aid course Schedule 4 of the FAIB certificate of approval clearly indicates the content of the course and is fully in line with the Ofsted requirements and the content of the British Red Cross and St John Ambulance Paediatric First Aid course OFSTED Guide to registration on the Early Years Register Birth 5 Reference no 140063 This covers Day Nurseries Pre Schools and Childminders etc Published 20 August 2014 Page 6 In the case of childminders you will need to have completed or have a date within 8 weeks from applying to complete a First Aid course that covers infants and young children This can be FAIB Paediatric First Aid course Guide to registration on the Childcare Register Birth 17 Reference no 120084 This covers Schools Nannies Au Pairs and Childminders etc Published 20 August 2014 Page 10 Paragraph 36 Before you can be registered You must have completed or

    just let us know if you are interested in this facility Please be aware that the Paediatric Register has now moved to the First Aid Industry Body FAIB and your name will be removed from the FOFATO Paediatric Register once it expires FOFATO National Trainer Assessor Register We are also getting much more interest in the FOFATO Trainer Assessor Register We check the credentials of each and every Trainer Assessor who wishes to join this register This ensures that every Trainer Assessor will have a good portfolio and a high level of competence This will assist Training Providers in finding suitably qualified and competent Trainers Assessors In relation to this register we would like Training Providers to work with FAIB in 2 areas Firstly we want to encourage our Training Providers to share information on the Annual Monitoring that must be conducted on every Trainer Assessor if that Trainer works for other Training Providers This should be more efficient save time and money and avoid duplication of monitoring which has occurred under the HSE system Secondly we ask that our Training Providers encourage their Trainers Assessors to register with us Monitoring of Trainers Assessors In relation to the FOFATO Trainer Assessor Register please be aware that the monitoring by our Inspectors within the First Aid Industry Body FAIB will be different to those conducted by HSE The FAIB Inspectors will be mainly used to monitoring the competence particularly in terms of up to date First Aid knowledge of Trainers Assessors rather than checking reams of paperwork which can be done electronically We feel that is a good way to begin to improve the quality of Trainers Assessors across the Industry This of course also links in with a move to improve the standards and consistency of Trainers Assessors We are
