  • Modular Forest School Training
    days Leader 1 Leader 2 Leader 3 The content of these three Leader Modules will cover the application of learning theories to Forest School methods of increasing self esteem and working on emotional intelligence group management communication strategy risk management ecological impact assessment management plan as well as working with tools and campfires for use at Forest School Three workbooks will need to be completed in modules 2 3 Module 4 has one workbook plus handbook to be completed Module 5 A 1 day Practical Skills Assessment Students will be assessed on their competence with knots and their safe use of tools and firecraft Module 6 A half day Delivery Assessment Students plan and run an introductory 6 week Forest School Programme with a small group of children in their own choice of woodland setting Students will need to write up their evidence of session planning risk assessments observations and evaluations for their introductory 6 week Forest School Programme During the 5th or 6th session of their introductory 6 week Forest School Programme students will be assessed on their leadership skills and their Health Safety documentation for running Forest School Programmes Students will need to book themselves in for a 2 hour assessment Level 3 Forest School Leader Modular Format Content The level 3 training is the nationally recognised standard of training required to lead Forest School sessions with children and young people It is a medium term training course which takes around 9 months to complete This training is accredited through the Open College Network OCN and carries 18 credits at level 3 Students need to complete all 6 modules Equipment All information materials and other health and safety equipment will be provided during the training course Students will be required to provide their own Safety boots and outdoor clothing for use during the training For details on safety boots see FAQs First Aid Students will need to have their First Aid Certificate in place before running their introductory 6 week FS Programme 2 day ITC Outdoor First Aid or 2 day Paediatric First Aid Current First Aid courses Entry Criteria Terms Conditions for training at Level 3 Level 2 3 Top Up Forest School Leader Training This training is specifically for those who already hold a level 2 FS Assistant certificate and wish to top up their trainig to become a Forest School Practitioner leading at Forest School The training consists of 4 modules and includes two assessments Students will need to complete modules 3 4 5 6 To book onto the Top Up course Students will need to submit their level 2 coursework and a copy of their level 2 certificate to book onto this course Equipment All information materials and other health and safety equipment will be provided during the training course Students will be required to provide their own Safety boots and outdoor clothing for use during the training For details on safety boots see FAQs First Aid Students will need to have their First

    top up to level 3 This is a 4 day training course 6 credits Level 2 3 Top Up Training Students who have already been certificated with the OCN level 2 qualification can top up to level 3 This level of training is only available on the Modular Format Students will need to submit their level 2 coursework and copy of certiicate to book on Some of the level 2 coursework will count towards the level 3 qualification This is a 6 day training course including 2 assessments 18 credits Level 3 Leader Training This is the nationally recognised level of training required if you want to lead at Forest School There are two assessments Practical Skills Assessment and Delivery Assessment to be completed and students will have to run a 6 week Forest School Programme with a group of children in an outdoor setting preferably woodlands Students on this level of training will need to ensure they have a 2 day ITC Outdoor First Aid course or a Paediatric First Aid qualification before they start their 6 week FS Programme This is a 9 day training course including 2 assessments 18 credits Accreditation All of our Forest School training courses are accredited through the Open College Network OCN Entry Criteria Level 1 candidates must Be over 16 years of age Have access to a Forest School Programme run by a level 3 qualified Forest Leader Level 2 FS Assistant candidates must Be 18yrs or over Hold a current enhanced CRB Disclosure Scotland certificate Have experience of working with children or young people Assist in 3 sessions of a Forest School Programme run by a level 3 qualified Forest School Leader Level 2 3 Top Up FS Leader candidates must be aged 21 years or over be a qualified teacher

  • First Aid for Forest School
