  • Melinda Coss's Coconut Ice Soap
    was really easy to do and really enjoyable Judging from others it seems to be a good soap for everyone too Coconut Ice Soap 11 oz 312g Veg fat shortening 21 oz 594g coconut oil 15 1 2 oz 446g distilled or spring water 5 1 2 oz 156g sodium hydroxide caustic soda lye 2 tsp 10g geranium essential oil 2 tsp 10g rose fragrance oil 2 tsp 10g diluted cosmetic pigment D G red 28 No colouring in he first batch and it should be set aside for 2 weeks before making the second pink batch Grease a shallow square or oblong mould Place fat and oil in a stainless steel or enamel pot over a low heat Pour the water into a heavy glass or plastic jug or bowl Wearing rubber gloves and eye protection add the sodium hydroxide to the water and stir until dissolved When the oils have melted remove them fromthe heat Place one sugar thermometer in the oils an one in the caustic soda solution When both thermometers reach an equal temperature between 120 deg F 49 deg C and 140 deg F 60 deg C pour the caustic solution into the oil Stir occasionally until the mix reaches trace Should take about 40 mins Add th essential oils and stir well Pour immediately int othe mould to a depth of 1 2 in 12 mm and cover witha towel or blanket Leave for 2 weeks After 2 weeks make a second batch and proceed until you reach trace At this point dissolve 1 4 tsp 1g red pigment in 2 tsp 10g warm water stir thoroughly Add the pigmen to the sop a few drops at a time stirring continuously When the soap has turned bright red pour it over the white set

    submitting this recipe from a successful experiment 20g olive wax 40g mango butter 20g cocoa butter 20g shea butter 40ml sweet almond oil 1 2 tsp glucose 2ml flavour oil Melt olive wax and butters except shea When all melted remove from heat and allow to cool slightly add the shea and allow to melt slowly add sa oil and mix thoroughly add glucose and mix thoroughly then add flavour

    the lip plumping part Thanks again This is the greatest lip balm i ve ever made Ingredients 2tsp Beeswax pellets 1tsp shea butter 2tsp refined cocoa butter 1tsp cocoa butter 1tsp jojoba oil 10 drops mint flavour oil yes it can be this strong and it needs to be This should fill 4 tubes and have a bit left over Melt oils and beeswax together either in the microwave or on a double boiler While you re doing this add the mint flavour oil to the jojoba oil when the beeswax has melted take away from the heat and work fast Add oils together and stir Pour into tubes If you re tight like me pour leftovers into empty lip balm pot thats kept for leftovers leave for 30 seconds reheat lip balm mixture top up tubes Put tops on and put in the fridge for a couple of hours This makes a lovely lip balm its smooth and sets nicely The mint gives it a great flavour and tingles as you use it its almost lip plumping at the same time It has a great sheen to it and lasts for ages It is also lovely and moisturising If

  • Pucker Lip Lube
    You will need 1g Coconut oil 2g Cocoa butter 1g Shea butter 1g Beeswax or Olive wax a vegan alternative 5g Sweet almond oil 5 8 drops of essential oil or flavouring Small lip balm jar This recipe makes just over 10g but to make more simply increase the amounts accordingly Melt the beeswax butters and oil together in non aluminium bowl over a pan of simmering water Bain Marie When completely melted allow to cool for a few minutes then add your essential oil or flavouring and stir well Pour into your jar and allow to cool completely Variants Harder Balm To make your lip lube harder and more like a balm use more beeswax and less oil Harder lip balms are best poured into lip balm cylinders Softer Lube To make your lip lube softer and more like the consistency of petroleum jelly use more oil less beeswax Soft lip lubes are not suitable for lip balm cylinders and are best poured into jars or tins Flavours Some people like to add honey for its flavour its beneficial properties but I must confess I have not tried this so it would be interesting to hear how others who
