    definitely paying PPI on the agreement If you have moved house since you took out the agreement please supply your old address so the bank can trace the account If you have changed your name by marriage or deed poll please include evidence of your former name What happens if I can t find my account number Gladstone Brookes has special agreements with a number of financial institutions who will provide account numbers direct to our Pre Submission Team They are Barclays Bank Barclaycard Black Horse RBS Natwest Lloyds TSB Santander Abbey Nationwide Debenhams Cahoot Ryanair Ernest Jones Comet DFS H Samuels NRAM loans mortgages Paypal Alliance Leicester Asda BHS Store Cards Harvey Nichols All of these firms plus Capital One credit cards also operate a pre claim PPI check to make sure that there is PPI attached to the agreement before the full claim is issued What do I do if my bank s not on the list The bank will not investigate any claim for which we don t have an account number so it s very important to find it Your claim will be placed on hold until you are able to supply this information Account numbers can be found on Loan agreements Bank statements Late payment notices Settlement advices On line banking However the quickest way might be to ring your bank and ask them for the information You are entitled to it under the Data Protection Act so don t let the bank fob you off They may also ask you to complain direct to them which you are entitled to do but remember we are here to provide an impartial service to you and remain happy to act on your behalf Click here for a list of Bank Contact Numbers What happens when you make the claim Once we are in receipt of all the information it is important that we review your complaint before we draft a formal letter of complaint LOC to them This LOC is the first notification the bank have that a complaint is being made against them so it s important that we get it right You will be notified when this is done The bank can t trace my account but I gave you the details at the start The bank are saying that they cannot find any PPI attached to the account number you have provided For example some clients supply us with current account numbers but current accounts do not have PPI attached The number the bank needs is the number of the credit agreement that you signed to obtain your loan mortgage or credit card Can you get account numbers for me We can try to assist you but the best way is for you to check any documents you hold bank accounts statements on line banking etc or simply call the bank and ask them for the number You have a right to the information Click here for a list of Bank Contact Numbers

    check the details of the offer and the amount that is being offered to ensure that the settlement proposed by your lender is acceptable Why have the banks upheld extra cases The rules under which PPI disputes are handled require lenders to investigate any agreements that are linked to the case complained about To ensure that lenders adhere to this ruling Gladstone Brookes cites the relevant legislation in order to reclaim the full amount that you are entitled to This often results in lenders identifying PPI on top up loans which clients may not have realised had PPI added on the agreement What happens if my case is rejected Gladstone Brookes will not give clients false expectations by escalating cases that we believe have no reasonable chance of being overturned However in many instances we believe that there are good grounds for challenging a lender s decision to reject a claim We evaluate every rejected claim and if we feel there is a chance the decision can be overturned we will appeal the case with the Financial Ombudsman Service FOS Approximately 65 of cases originally rejected by the banks are overturned in favour of the consumer What happens if an appeal can be made You can do this yourself However Gladstone Brookes will take all the stress and worry out of making a claim and save you the time of having to make the claim yourself This is a simple process why should I use Gladstone Brookes Gladstone Brookes will not give clients false expectations by escalating cases that we believe have no reasonable chance of being overturned However in many instances we believe that there are good grounds for challenging a lender s decision to reject a claim We evaluate every rejected claim and if we feel there is a chance the decision can be overturned we will appeal the case with the Financial Ombudsman Service FOS Approximately 65 of cases originally rejected by the banks are overturned in favour of the consumer Who are the Financial Ombudsman Service FOS and what do they do FOS is an impartial adjudicator who will review a rejected case on its merits but they will not get involved until the bank has given a final decision on the claim They have the power to overturn a rejection if they feel that it was unfair and there is no charge for their service Unfortunately there are no time limits on a FOS investigation and they currently have a long waiting list of cases Obtaining a decision could take 18 months or more but if your lender has rejected your claim they are effectively saying they are not prepared to pay you any money However if we can persuade FOS to overturn that decision your lender will then have to repay all the PPI premiums you have paid plus interest Why has my case been sent to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme FSCS Occasionally the company responsible for selling the PPI to you has
