    Halliwell Jones Stadium and then donated it to the Foundation They will now select families to benefit from the ticket for at least 14 homes games this season Read More Building on success By Mike Birkett Published 2015 02 04T14 22 03 0000 Posted in Charity Gladstone Brookes Wolves Foundation 4th February 2015 Tagged Disability Awareness Gladstone Brookes rugby league special educational needs St Gregorys Total Sport Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation The new collaboration between Gladstone Brookes the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation and St Gregory s High School is going from strength to strength with members of Gladstone Brookes staff queuing up to get involved The partnership with St Gregory s has been a departure from the normal type of event run jointly by GB and the Foundation Focus In previous years GB staff have helped to deliver sessions in a range of schools based around the Rugby League World Cup and Disability Awareness This year the focus is solely on special sporting sessions to children with special educational needs A game of catch and clap The team build a tunnel Waiting their turn Getting more complicated The sessions are part of the Foundation s Total Sport project and co ordinator Craig Thomason said This week myself and the GB staff asked the children to work through a number of progressive activities focusing on teamwork With each member of the GB staff leading groups the children were encouraged to problem solve between them which resulted in some fantastic outcomes The session highlighted to the participants the importance of communication when working as a team Developing Amanda Hunt the co ordinator at St Gregory s is also pleased with the way the project is developing She said The pupils had a great time again with the team There were children participating this week who had watched the first session so confidence is developing quickly amongst the group The staff were impressed with the support from your team and the energy levels in the room The pupils were appropriately challenged and all able to join in at their own pace and level The pupils are making great progress in terms of personal and social development along with developing their health and fitness The first week of the new scheme was a getting to know you session but this week the GB staff Laura Teeling Lee Gerke and Elliott Jones joined Craig in running a series of team building games Enjoyed Laura really enjoyed the event She said Helping at St Greg s was a great experience The scheme is a fantastic way of helping children with special educational needs to get involved in physical activity and working together It was lovely to see the children taking part so enthusiastically and most importantly enjoying themselves Lee Gerke found it just as rewarding He commented The kids really enjoyed what we were doing with them They all had big smiles on their faces and got really involved It was a great event to be
