    12 May 2013 Gloucestershire Match abandoned due to rain no play Venue Bristol No play was possible in the Yorkshire Bank 40 match between Gloucestershire and Middlesex at Bristol because of persistent afternoon drizzle At one point a 29 overs a side game was planned with a 3 30pm start But although the teams were named the rain returned before the captains had tossed up From then on it was frustration all round for players spectators and groundstaff as the covers came off at times only to be replaced as another light shower passed over Umpires Jeff Evans and Richard Illingworth even gave the go ahead for a ten over game starting at 6pm The teams took the field with Middlesex having won the toss and elected to field only to head for the pavilion again before a ball could be bowled Gloucestershire were left with three points from as many Group C games while for Middlesex it was a first point in the competition having lost their opening fixture against Glamorgan Hamish Marshall had recovered from his stomach bug and was due to play in a Gloucestershire team showing one change from the victory over Unicorns at Wormsley James Fuller was set to replace the injured Will Gidman having recovered from a broken finger Will aggravated an ankle problem when attempting to bowl in the second innings of the drawn LV County Championship game with Hampshire He told this website It s throbbing a bit today but thankfully we have a bit of a break from Championship cricket now so fingers crossed I will be ready for the next game The ankle felt fine when I ran on it yesterday but it was a different story when I brought my foot down on the bowling crease and I knew

    Tourist 16 May 2013 Gloucestershire Glos win by an innings and 82 runs Venue Fenners Liam Norwell finished with match figures of 9 41 as Gloucestershire completed a two day victory over Cambridge MCCU at Fenner s by an innings and 82 runs Starting the second day of the three day fixture on 46 3 in their first innings the students were bowled out for just 98 in 35 3 overs a deficit of 244 Norwell claimed 4 20 and there were two wickets each for James Fuller Ian Saxelby and Matt Taylor as the seamers dominated Hamish Marshall enforced the follow on and this time Cambridge MCCU were dismissed for 162 Norwell returning 5 21 and Ed Young 2 42 Amit Gupta hit a half century for the hosts but the game ended around 4 30pm giving Gloucestershire s players an unexpected day off tomorrow After the game Hamish Marshall told this website It was a really good win for us All the seamers ran in hard and got their rewards Liam got a bit out of the pitch in both innings and didn t hold back As far as I am aware all the bowlers came through unscathed It was great for Ian Saxelby to play a match after a lot of time in the nets building up his fitness Alex Gidman set the game up for us with his first innings century He had to be careful to start with because we had lost a few wickets but then opened his shoulders I was out just short of a ton but it didn t worry me too much as I was going for quick runs as we looked for a declaration We will now have a day off tomorrow and then be in for practice on Saturday
