  • John Bracewell Review Of The Season Part Three | Gloucestershire Cricket
there Gloucestershire won five of their group matches with two ending in no results while three defeats came by narrow margins In the final part of his review of the season Director of Cricket Bracewell told this website Considering we were two points down before the T20 group matches started we did remarkably well We competed strongly in every game except the last one which proved a very disappointing performance against Glamorgan at Cardiff when we were already out of the competition and allowed standards to slip We addressed that and didn t allow the same thing to happen at the end of the four day campaign It was a lesson learned Having said that I was really pleased with the style of our T20 cricket and the entertainment we provided Despite the points penalty we were in the hunt for qualification from the group right up until the final match and that represented good progress I believe our batsmen are getting more confident at trying to clear the ropes Adam Rouse and Geraint Jones showed the others what power hitting is about during their spells with the club They are not big guys but they have the ability to strike the ball hard without fear We still have work to do on that but we are not far off James Fuller was a massive loss to our T20 campaign He is our only bowler in the format with what I would class international statistics so to lose him after only the third game was tough Guys like him can win you games If James had been available I feel we would probably have made the knock out stage Having seen the team improve during 2014 I believe we can have a real crack at T20 next season We have

  • Hamish Reflects Ahead Of Benefit Year | Gloucestershire Cricket
of Cheltenham is beautiful and the whole Festival environment has become very special to me It is a tiring fortnight physically and mentally but the enjoyment you get out of it outweighs all that Twenty20 cricket has provided Hamish with some of the best moments of his Gloucestershire career He said Reaching Finals Day in my second season was a highlight as of course was my record partnership in the competition with Kevin O Brien 192 in 15 3 overs against Middlesex at Uxbridge in 2011 I remember Kevin going wild at the start of the innings simply by playing good cricket shots He is such a clean hitter of the ball and got us off to a great start Then we both started to score quickly and after he got out I managed to continue the momentum The innings Gloucestershire made 254 3 the highest total in domestic T20 cricket with Hamish scoring 102 went by in a flash but was so enjoyable because everything seemed to click We had a bit of luck here and there but generally everything we tried went to plan It was something we didn t see coming In T20 you go out and play a certain way and on the days it comes off it s great fun At the time we had no idea of the records we had broken It was only later we were told about them Another great memory for Hamish will always be of his very first County Championship appearance for Gloucestershire more than eight years ago My first century came on my Championship debut for the club against Worcestershire at Bristol he recalled It was a huge relief because I had played in two one day games and barely got a run It was a good wicket
