167 138 61 APPSERVER 41208 JDast uses this format Many Thx JackDinn My software never has bugs it just develops random new features Top mlm v6dev Posts 10 Joined Fri May 04 2012 3 01 am Re A couple of feature requests Quote Post by mlm v6dev Tue May 08 2012 11 21 am Yes I had previously opened the csv in excel but directly from the Speed Tester folder in My Documents so I may have messed it up then I didn t go through jdast for that so never got the warning message I ve now deleted the csv from the Speed Tester folder so it has created a new file and I won t touch it One thing I did notice is that even with the two date formats in the csv if I open the csv in Excel 2010 it changes the date formats so that they are all the same right from top to bottom I didn t even know the last few lines were different until I opened it in Notepad Actually I m not sure which is the correct date format Since I edited the file with excel I wouldn t trust anything in the file I did try doing an email test after the first speed test run but the csv was weird 2012 05 08 16 46 12 DL Speed UL Speed Ping PKT Loss Jitter Public IP Unique ID Notes The first entry has the correct datetime after I deleted the original file but then only the column headers are shown and no data I ll see what comes through in the morning Cheers Top jackdinn Site Admin Posts 189 Joined Tue Jan 24 2012 11 44 am Location Norfolk UK Contact Contact jackdinn Website Re A couple of feature requests Quote Post by jackdinn Tue May 08 2012 11 40 am One thing I did notice is that even with the two date formats in the csv if I open the csv in Excel 2010 it changes the date formats so that they are all the same right from top to bottom I didn t even know the last few lines were different until I opened it in Notepad Yea it does do that and thats why it has caused a problem or 2 its not so much the reading of the csv in excal its when you save it it saves all the changed dates However im working on a converter that will enable me jdast to use either format i just need to decide which format to use as the default now p s jdast does keep backup the whole current csv for the last 10 tests so if you do mess up the current csv you can just delete it and copy over one of the backups There found in your docs speed tester backup not sure about how you have got 2012 05 08 16 46 12 DL Speed UL Speed Ping PKT Loss Jitter

  • A couple of feature ideas - JD's Auto Speed Tester
couple of months now and I have to say it is better than some commercial tools out there A couple of ideas When you do a software upgrade it fails if the netmon window is open you have to manually close the netmon window is it possible to auto close the netmon window as part of the upgrade process Yep i shall sort that out straight away no problem ssaunderss wrote It would be nice to be able to allocate a test file name from within the tool so you can keep track if you are testing say a fixed broadband and comparing results from testing a mobile broadband connection May be as part of the new data set dialogue I find I end up with multiple files and I can t remember which service related to which file Thanks steve There was a similar request some time ago now the chap asked for a way to filter certain IP s from tests and or the averages graph I introduced this function on the configurations Ping Pak jit IP tab to only run tests on certain IP s or only average out certain IP s on the averages graph although i don t think this helps your situation but i just thought id mention it I could have a save as file dialogue box if you use the start new data set option this would give you the chance to make the file name whatever you want but there might be a problem with the automated end of data set reached situation I cant really add the testing file URL to the old data sets file name as default because each data set may well have many different test URLs that were used within it I cant really put up a save as dialogue box for an automatic new data set as the person might not be around to hit the ok button and then it would just be stuck there waiting for input when it should be taking tests although i could put a timer on it i think However If adding a save as dialogue just to the manual start new data set option is good enough for your requirement then sure i can do that no problem just let me know if this would be what you want and i shall get straight on it Many Thx JackDinn My software never has bugs it just develops random new features Top jackdinn Site Admin Posts 189 Joined Tue Jan 24 2012 11 44 am Location Norfolk UK Contact Contact jackdinn Website Re A couple of feature ideas Quote Post by jackdinn Sat Mar 03 2012 12 55 pm Thinking about it i reckon the best thing to do is to add another option in the main menu to Save Current Data Set and give a save as dialogue here This would be the easiest and maybe the most convenient way to differentiate the saved data sets It would
