  • Getting Started
    and the clipping time to 2secs then click the start resume button This will scan through all of the test files available and show which are currently the best URL s at that time They are hosted in many different countries so some will be good for you and others are not This scanning process will take a few minutes to complete If the first few tests show an error its because the first test files in the list are to small just let it go on with the scan When the scan is finished look at the top of the list of URL s and pick the top 3 you ll have to take a note of them copy paste to notepad Then close the scan window In the configs window on the download tab you should already be there make sure the ON OFF button is set to ON and the button right at the top called measure quantity fixed test time is selected Go to the bottom of this tab inside the blue boxed area and find the pull down menu called Add URL from main list In the box directly below it select any URL s that may already be in it and click the remove from testing list button until the box is empty Now click on the dropdown bar and find your top 3 test url from the notes you made and add them 1 at a time to the single and multi URL testing box Now make sure the multi threaded testing tickbox is ticked If you want to test each of the 3 servers individually one after the other then you can un tick this box but it will take longer to run the download tests use more bandwidth Set the test

  • Graph Window
    maximum for each or you can also set each axis to be automatically adjusted to the maximum value of the current data set There is also a slider to magnify up and down for quick magnification On the download and upload axis controls there are extra tick boxs at the bottom Apply settings to AV Graph This setting enables you to decide if you want the hourly averages graph s Y axis to mimic the setting you set here or if you want the averages graph max Y axis to be generated from the maximum value of the current data set i e If you fix the maximum Y axis to 10Mb s on the main graph then the hourly averages graph will also be fixed to 10Mb s max Y axis This setting does NOT apply to the little blue pop up averages box these averages are always based on the maximum of the current data set Also see Display Time Scale Axis The time scale shows the time each test was taken start time sometimes a test may take more than 1 minute There is also a division mark showing the day number so that it is easier to see the data that belongs to each day and helps see where one day ends and the next day starts The main slider at the bottom of the graph right side slider will scroll the graph back and forth in time The left side bottom slider is to adjust the zoom function of the graph Tooltips Hovering over any part of the graphed results whilst the JDast window is active will bring up a tooltip for that individual result showing the data values A 1 result represents NO Test there was no test taken at that time Context menus

    on the main graph GUI Colour Change the colour of the whole of JDast some colours are ok some not so much but they were easy to implement so there in there Bar Colours Change the colours of the bars area lines of the graph Choose the colour you want assigned for each of the DL UL Ping PKl Jitter Graph Layouts At the top of the Graph Display Options widnow there are 3 types of layout Standard Graph Layout The default layout is a single Y axis for both the download and the upload these are measured against the left hand side axis Mb s The Ping Packet loss Jitter is measured against the right hand side axis Y2 ms The Packet loss uses the top of the graph to represent 100 Double Axis Layout The double axis has separate axis for the download and the upload The ping etc is measured on the right hand side axis Triple Graph Layout The Triple Graph splits the graph area into 3 and uses the top for the download the middle for upload and the bottom for the ping pktloss jitter Axis Control To get each individual axis control just click

  • Averages Graph
    the data points for each hour and then find the average for all the download upload speed tests done during that hour The black bars show the maximum and minimum values in each hour The coloured oval marks are each individual test result the square box s are the average value for that hour The number inside the square box is the average download upload speed Mb s The colour represents how good bad each value is i e Green Good Red Bad The buttons in the top right corner enables you to choose to show either the download or upload data The blue DP s line of numbers represents the number of data points used for each hours average If you click on the blue Hour boxes at the bottom of the graph it will show a pop up window with a list of all the test results used for that hours average Quick Averages Info Clicking the AvData button on the main graph window will pop up the basic averages window The basic averages is the average speed Mb s both upload and download of your results that have been taken Today 00 00 23 59 This week
