  • Testing one connection with 2 computers - surprise...! - JD's Auto Speed Tester
the other computer The Internet connection comes from a Sierra Wireless AC754s which receives a WAN signal from a tower 2 miles from my house and broadcasts a wireless LAN signal inside my house One computer is an older ACER laptop running Win 98 and JDast The other computer is a new Lenovo X1 Carbon ultrabook running Win8 and JDast I made sure both copies of JDast had the same config US based download servers my own website as an upload server and google com for the ping test server Here are the overnight results from the ACER Note that only two of the tests looked decent with down speeds around 10 Mb s Now the results from the Lenovo Now nearly all of the tests are good And the only two bad tests on the Lenovo coincide with the only two good tests on the ACER Not to put too fine a point on it but what the hell is going on here Scott Top jackdinn Site Admin Posts 189 Joined Tue Jan 24 2012 11 44 am Location Norfolk UK Contact Contact jackdinn Website Re Testing one connection with 2 computers surprise Quote Post by jackdinn Wed Jul 17 2013 3 30 pm Hi I would double check the win98 comp by manually downloading some of the test files through your browser whilst watching the throughput on a live meter like net meter or jdasts one netmon Could it be a problem with one of your wireless receivers can you try swapping them if pos Many Thx JackDinn My software never has bugs it just develops random new features Top jackdinn Site Admin Posts 189 Joined Tue Jan 24 2012 11 44 am Location Norfolk UK Contact Contact jackdinn Website Re Testing one connection with 2 computers surprise

  • Email report not working due to latency....maybe - JD's Auto Speed Tester
SMTP server it don t have to be your own servers you can use most web email services like yahoo or gmail to do the sending and receiving Also I suggest you try the remote jdast and see how you get on with that it wont give you an warning notifications unless you do a little coding to read the server you send the data too every X minutes and check the data that way but you can get access to it whenever you want You can even load the data directly into a local jdast and have it show the graph of the remote data Many Thx JackDinn My software never has bugs it just develops random new features Top little1406 Posts 5 Joined Tue Jul 09 2013 2 11 pm Re Email report not working due to latency maybe Quote Post by little1406 Fri Jul 12 2013 11 40 am Thanks for the comprehensive responses I did get JDast Remote working tests every 30 minutes As you can see there are frequent bad spots in my connection separated by good spots of 10Mb s down which is fantastic compared to the other services we ve had out here in the sticks I wish there was an option to make the remote graph bigger and more detailed like the main screen display But I m not complaining JDast is absolutely fantastic and now my ISP can see how poorly they are doing anytime they like Presently they are acting like they really do care about this problem What does the message ISP Could not resolve mean at the bottom of the graph Scott Top jackdinn Site Admin Posts 189 Joined Tue Jan 24 2012 11 44 am Location Norfolk UK Contact Contact jackdinn Website Re Email report not working due to latency maybe Quote Post by jackdinn Fri Jul 12 2013 1 25 pm Hmm yea your bad spots look quite regular from the little graph which would really annoy me maybe some regular signal interference from something id be hunting high and low for whats causing that but could be out of your control I wish there was an option to make the remote graph bigger and more detailed Your using the mini graph which is just for a quick view and posting on forums etc if you look on the main window under view other data sets you will see a load remote data sets just put in the url for text file that you are uploading to your server and it will load the remote data into jdast You might need to check your server for what the actual file name is as there s some numbers added etc i e a remote data address might look like this Code Select all http www gmwsoftware co uk livejdast livecsv jackgreg746300 txt What does the message ISP Could not resolve mean at the bottom of the graph This was my attempt to automatically figure what your ISP
