    adjoining Bromley by Bow underground station close to the Queen Elizabeth Park in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Prior to the St Andrews development the site was a derelict eyesore that blighted the heart of a deprived and divided community How HardHat assisted HardHat delivered all the community political and media engagement for the former hospital site working in partnership with Barratt London the GLA Circle and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets We established very close links with the local community establishing a thorough programme of public engagement giving local residents and groups the opportunity to contribute to the masterplan and the planning applications for the site HardHat also liaised with a local artist to develop an arts strategy which integrated the site s Victorian heritage into a community arts project enhancing the public realm Throughout the planning and construction process HardHat produced a quarterly bulletin sent to local residents and stakeholder s keeping them informed of the construction and planning progress along with a regularly updated website We managed both a community Construction Working Group and a Stakeholder Liaison Group that worked with the development team to plan the community facilities Outcome St Andrews has been the
