    Tandem Skydive Wight Challenge Southampton Half Marathon Sahara Trek Morrisons Great South Run Hendy Ford Eastleigh 10K Road Race Just Walk 2016 Fundraising Pack Sponsorship Forms Photo Gallery Heartbeat House Heartbeat House Relatives Stories News News GRAND PRIZE DRAW Patient Stories It s One Big Trek Jeremy aims for 4k Former cardiac patient Jeremy Barber is taking on the big one gearing up for a major challenge treking to Everest Base Camp It may not be happening until next year but already his fundraising is progressing fantastically well with a quiz cake stall car boot sale children s table top sale and a stall at the school fete under his belt Add to these a planned wine tasting murder mystery and more events and you can see how determined Jeremy is to reach his goal of 4000 Having lost a significant amount of weight since last year Jeremy s new combined fitness and fundraising regime will see him walking 40 miles along the Shipwright s Way on 27 July he hopes in just 12 hours So if you re out that way on the 27 th don t forget to cheer him on And why is he doing all this Well Jeremy s first birthday was celebrated in an operating theatre in Southampton General Hospital having major heart surgery for a congenital heart condition known as coarctation of the aorta He was back for his 13 th birthday for a valve replacement before as the doctors told him at the time he got to the stage when he wouldn t be able to walk up a flight of stairs Then slowly he lost fitness and put on weight So the combination of wanting to give something back as Jeremy notes To a charity that had given me so much at
