    s design Henry Ward s ingenious striking is another option This is a full strike without the addition of a second wheel train Although seemingly a complicated piece of machinery and one that would require a fully equipped workshop this is not so The author carries out all of his clockmaking on a Myford ML 7 lathe now 45 years old however the clock can be made on almost any lathe including small lathes such as the Unimat 3 Wheelcutting is shown being performed on this little lathe and all the wheels in this movement can be cut on the Unimat 3 Great trouble has been taken by the author to give full and accurate descriptions of all the processes involved in making a clock especially on subjects such as wheelcutting dial matting crossing out wheels and the preparation of the files etc I hope that this manual will come to be regarded as the definitive work on the making of a clock J Wilding This workshop manual containing 83 pages and over 300 illustrations gives full details of every aspect of the construction of a wall hanging 8 day weight driven clock fitted with a seconds length pendulum Cutters

    my design runs in ball races and I have simplified the mechanical arrangement for the drive to the hands In addition I have made an alteration to the general design of the frame to both simplify the constructions and increase the height slightly Some of these modifications have been introduced deliberately to discourage attempts at producing fake copies of the original I am often asked by various societies to do this This is an impressive clock and the oscillation of the large balance wheel is spectacular in its action The clock employs the Hipp toggle principle to maintain the swings of the balance and runs off a 3 volt battery supply The machining can be carried out on the Myford ML 7 or a lathe of equivalent size The largest diameter to be accomodated is the 5 diameter balance Full descriptions of all parts of the construction are given in the manual including winding the coils Details and addresses of the suppliers of the materials are given in the text and the balance spring is The manual contains 36 pages with over 104 drawings and illustrastions J Wilding Cutters Module 0 45 ORDER FORM Back To J Wilding Clocks Back
