  • Snowmobile Weekend - Intrepid Expeditions
    course a snowmobile After a safety brief we head off for an exhilarating day exploring the magnificent mountain range bordering Norway We stop for lunch at Jänsmässholmen an old Sami school house now transformed into a cosy hotel In the afternoon we continue our ride through the snowy terrain until we reach Rörvattnets mountain Hotel where we spend the night Dinner will be served and the evening is yours to spend as you wish DAY 3 Following breakfast its then back on the snowmobiles for a final blast across the stunning landscape taking a different route back to our original start point Along the way we stop at a frozen lake to try a spot of ice fishing Its then back to the Hotel Fjällgården for the final evening which will be spent around the dinner table reminiscing about your adventures Also a chance to take advantage of a dip in the hot tub Total distance covered 130 Kilometres DAY 4 After breakfast it s time to head back to the airport at Östersund to catch the flight to Stockholm Depending on flight times there may be a chance to do some shopping at Stockholm airport before returning to Heathrow INCLUDED All flights Transport within Sweden Accommodation All Meals Snowmobiles Cold weather clothing English Speaking Guide NOT INCLUDED Personal travel insurance Personal expenditure and all other items not mentioned in our programme PASSPORT VISA All that is required is a current valid 10 year passport and current European health insurance card VACCINATIONS Tetanus is recommended WEATHER December April Daytime temperatures can average plus 5c Celsius and can drop to 30 C With a dry atmosphere the temperature does not feel as cold as it sounds LICENCE Full Driving Licence or Motorbike licence is required for this trip You may also

    us with magnificent views of both Mount Salcantay and Mount Huamantay Descending into the often kinder climates of the cloud forest we will stop for some lunch approx 3 750 m The afternoon sees the scenery change from mountain terrain to more tropical climate and our nights camp will be at about 2 600 m or 2 900 m depending on how we have done so far Being at a lower altitude these camps are far warmer than previous nights Camp B L D DAY 5 After a little bit of a lie in today we head into tropical vegetation and with it warmer weather The walking today is easier heading downhill and following the Rio Santa Teresa to the road head just outside the village of La Playa Along the way we will notice just how much terrain and climate have changed as we enter the coffee coca leaf banana and other fruit plantations Keep a lookout for Gallito de las Rocas Peru s national bird At La Playa a cold beer will be waiting before we set off to our evenings camp at Lucmabamba 2 050 m Camp B L D DAY 6 Today we will head uphill once again to climb through tropical jungle with our goal as the Inca site of Llactapata 2 700 m Below us the mighty Rio Urubamba snakes through the sacred valley and on past Machu Picchu Llactapata is perched on a most scenic ridge presenting a rarely admired view of Machu Picchu Along the climb we will again see the local farms of coffee coca leaf bananas and other jungle crops as well as a change in the vegetation The descent to the hidroelectrica train station takes us past the over flow of the Hydro electric power station that provides much of the electricity for Cusco From the station we either take the train unreliable or walk the beautiful two hours along the Urubamba river to Aguas Calientes and our hotel for the evening In the village there are hot springs for those who wish to soak their tired limbs Hotel B L DAY 7 Refreshed from a night in Aguas Calientes we awake early and take an early morning bus to Machu Picchu Lost city of the Incas Discovered by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911 Machu Picchu is without doubt an awe inspiring sight which will leave you spellbound with its mystical atmosphere Together with the exquisitely perfected carved stonework and the striking location on which it stands Machu Picchu will make you feel like you have entered a magical world preserved in time We can explore not only the main site with our expert guide but also Huayna Picchu the towering granite peak over looking Machu Picchu on which there are remains of agricultural terraces The peak rewards those who made the effort with stupendous views of Machu Picchu Climbing Huayna Picchu however is not for the faint hearted having an extremely steep and narrow pathway Other sites

  • Sweden Fishing Adventure - Intrepid Expeditions
    minibus for approximately one hour to your base for the week which is a traditional log cabin situated in a remote pine forest DAY 2 After breakfast and a safety briefing you will travel by minibus with your guide a short distance to your first fishing site This is a stretch of water at the southern end of lake Andviken where the water bottlenecks into the River Hårkan The rapids here are divided by the large Kron Storön island as well as a few smaller islands giving varying speed of river flow These conditions are ideal for fly or spinner fishing In the evening you will travel back to the log cabin for dinner and a chance to unwind with an introduction talk to bush craft optional DAY 3 Following breakfast with your guide you will travel in the minibus to the northern end of Lake Sandviksjön where tracks through the forest will lead you to the waters edge Here the river flows at a gentler pace with a few secluded small bays ideal for pike and trout fishing With picturesque vistas this is a great spot to spend the day Returning to the cabin for dinner in the evening DAY 4 After breakfast once again you will travel with your guide to your day s fishing location The water s here are that of the River Hårkan in the locality of Lake Lövsjön Surrounded by forest on both sides this narrow body of water gently tumbles over boulders making this secluded spot an excellent place to take advantage of Cook your catch over an open fire That evening you will return to the cabin for dinner DAY 5 Your final day of fishing is at the northern end of Lake Lövsjön Here the river flows over large boulders with powerful currents Amazing number of good catches have been had from this one kilometre section Cook on an open fire again then returning to the cabin in the evening DAY 6 Your final full day is spent in the location of our log cabin giving you the option to rest explore the surroundings as you so wish the choice is yours Walk along by the river or follow the tracks through the forest swim in relax in the sauna Dinner will be served in the evening at the cabin and there will be a chance for you and your fellow fishing friends to reminisce on your fishing exploits in Sweden DAY 7 Leave the cabin and travel by minibus to Östersund to catch the internal flight to Stockholm and finally a connecting flight back to the UK INCLUDED All flights transport within Sweden Accommodation bunks in traditional log cabin All food while at the cabin Fishing licence one per person English speaking fishing guide NOT INCLUDED Personal travel insurance Personal expenditure All other items not mentioned in our programme KIT LIST To cover every aspect of fishing available it is advisable to bring two rods These can be either travel
