shot lead after birdying the sixteenth to go to 5 under par for the tournament In the same group Lloyd Kennedy was hanging on for dear life and he also birdied the same hole to stay within three of Whitnell and hope for something to happen over the final 2 holes Reece Phillips The Warren and Charlie Haggar Rochester Cobham joined Russell on one under par and they continued to live in hope but eventually died of disappointment I m afraid at the hands of the impressive Whitnell In the final group Kennedy went on a spending spree and bogied the last hole and drop from a clear second place into a tie with Phillips Haggar and Russell The first round leader Thomas Markey had unfortunately faded away from the leadership battle but I am sure he will learn from his experiences and come back all stronger for it in the future Whitnell made solid pars at the final 2 holes and finish a worthy winner by 4 shots and successfully defend the title he won last year after beating Ricky Brackenbury in a play off We had a young lady playing this week courtesy of her win at The Lee Westwood Golf School and Morgan Thomas belied her petite stature by hitting the ball a country mile and will surely be a star of the future in Ladies Golf The impressive Georgio Forgione won the amateur tour prize in category one with local hero Dave Park winning the category two section They both win a place in an Algarve Pro Golf Tour event and a 4 night stay in a 4 hotel with car hire included Preceding the main tournament Aldwickbury Park held their Pro Am and Tom Hayward was the worthy professional winner with a brilliant 5 under par 66 and Team Garvey won the team event with 85 points Aldwickbury Park partly designed by Ken Brown who was arguably one of the game s best putters and so his emphasis was on building greens that would make the players think about where they put their approach shots to best negotiate the gently sloping greens The course was in superb condition and with the nigh perfect greens running fast and true it proved a proper test for the players and provided us with a worthy and gracious winner in Dale Whitnell who praised the condition and set up of the golf course Gibbs Secures Maiden Win at Telford Winner Steve Gibbs left with second placed Dale Whitnell right A delighted Steve Gibbs won his first professional tournament on The Jamega Pro Golf Tour to join a long list of players who have kicked off their careers with a Jamega win Gibbs joins Ian Woosnam in choosing the Telford Golf and Country Club as the stage for his first professional win and he will be hoping to follow in Woosnams footsteps to future success The first day saw joint leaders with Tom Hayward and Dale Whitnell on 3 under

around Hayling Island steadily and got himself in the lead with a great birdie on 14 A par on 15 followed by another birdie on 16 gave him a two shot cushion which he would need playing the treacherous 17th and 18th holes Busby drawing on his experience duly made par on the last two holes carding a final round of 2 under 69 and a grand total of 3 under par 139 So Hayling Island proved to be Busby s Treasure Island as he un earthed Jamega s largest first place cheque ever for 5 000 John Banbury although disappointed to be beaten soon smiled again on receiving his second place cheque for 2 500 Hayling Island is a beautifully presented Links course with fast and true greens overlooking the Isle of Wight The clubhouse and staff are very welcoming and we would recommend it to golfers of all standards a tough test for one and all Our next event at Magnolia Park is already full so if you want to ensure that you get a place in the remaining 18 events we would recommend that you enter them sooner rather than later so as not to be disappointed View Prize Winners on Results Page View Full Leaderboard on Latest Scores Page View Hayling Island Photographs By Simon Murdoch Emotional First Jamega Tour Win for Jack Doherty The final event of the year had arrived at Mentmore and with the course in pristine condition and the greens fast and true we expected some spectacular scoring and boy were we right As the scores started to come in our expectations were correct in fact 4 under par 68 s were coming in quicker than Usain Bolt They included Mentmores general manager Clint Moore Pete Lockett Max Brackley Rory Kirwan Stuart Hemming James Ruebotham Michael Lowe Adam Mason and last but not least Sam Robinson James Cundy and Darren Walton just beat these guys with 5 under 67 s but even that score was not good enough to head the leader board The scoring just kept getting better and better with not one but four 7 under par 65 s from Matt Allen Jason Fallon Craig Smith and Jack Doherty At the end of the first day the scoreboard was just a sea of red with a record number of players under par One of those not under par but with reason to celebrate was John Macklen who aced the par 3 third to win a cheque for 100 The wind was up for the start of the second day and we thought that the scoring would not reach the dizzy heights of the first day James Busby fresh from his stage one Q School win at Chart Hills laid an immaculate card on the desk totaling 7 under par 65 to propel him up the leader board to eventually finish joint 5th Michael Lowe having a break from the Alps Tour also compiled a card adding up to 65 to
