    By Others Checking Of Precast Flooring Design By Others Structural Fire Requirement Review And Structural Specifications Access And Escape Review And Detailing Review Of Deliveries And Site Compound Location Setting Out Details And Co Ordination With Steel Supplier Construction Method Statements The project was to provide a Four storey infill extension to one of the schools existing teaching blocks with direct access from an existing corridor and stairwell The extension was to be a stand alone structure to provide additional classroom space and was to be built during term time in a restricted compound The Site The site of the extension was a grass lawn sandwiched between an existing playground area and the existing school building It had limited nearby parking and restricted vehicle access which presented major obstacles for the construction work The school was to remain fully open and unaffected by the construction The Design The existing Lawn area had to be surveyed prior to any proposals being carried out to establish whether any existing buried services or drainage runs were present within the site JNP Group consulting engineers also had to organise a soils investigation report to be carried arranging two boreholes to be carried out to establish the local substrate and water table Trialpits were carried out against the existing building to establish its footing details A tree survey of the surrounding area was also carried out to assist with determining a suitable foundation solution A piled foundation solution was considered to be the most suitable for the proposals although piling companies had to be liaised with to determine how close the rigs could get to the existing building The ground beams were required to be designed with cantilever ends over the existing footings to pick up the the new structural framing over Due to the
