    collaborate with NGN to achieve a CCS top 10 site at Bishop Auckland Gas Holder demolition Stepping up to the plaque KDC sponsor St Bees Cricket Academy NFDC North West Region raises 10 000 You are here Home News KDC collaborate with NGN to achieve a CCS top 10 site at Bishop Auckland Gas Holder demolition KDC collaborate with NGN to achieve a CCS top 10 site at Bishop Auckland Gas Holder demolition In March 2014 KDC were selected as the main contractor for the demolition of Bishop Auckland Gas Holder by Northern Gas Networks NGN During the demolition works the site underwent a Considerate Contractor Scheme CCS assessment scoring 41 out of 50 and placing it in the top 10 of all sites in the country in 2014 As a result of this outstanding score the site will receive a Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Bronze Award for 2015 Ian Smithson Managing Director at KDC stated We are pleased to have achieved such a successful partnership with NGN The results of the CCS assessment are qualities we strive to achieve on all KDC project sites as part of our corporate social responsibility KDC s approach to corporate social responsibility CSR is an integral part of our company culture It is about ensuring we sustain safe operations have a positive impact on our people the communities we work in and the wider environment as well as building the trust and respect of our customers and other stakeholders The Bishop Auckland Gas Holder was a significant land mark in the area and was constructed by Whessoe Limited in 1951 The site on which the gas holder used to stand has been used for gas distribution for over one hundred years There is reason to believe through the examination of historical documentation
