  • Lancashire Lightning v Middlesex
Australian gloved to slip When Clark edged James Harris to slip for 22 to make Lancashire 147 8 in the 43rd over the outcome was still uncertain with 15 required However in pursuit of victory Middlesex had stuck largely with their four front line seam attack who had all bowled their 10 over allocation by the end of the 45th over It was an understandable gamble but Stephen Parry and Tom Bailey batted out the last overs by Franklin and Harris and cheered on by a healthy Blackpool crowd then picked off the runs required from spinners Rayner and Dawid Malan Parry cutting Rayner for four to seal victory with two overs left It seemed an unlikely scenario earlier in the day after Steven Croft had inserted Middlesex on a sun drenched albeit windy day at the seaside and then watched his seam bowlers reduced the Seaxes to 83 7 after 27 overs Tom Bailey did most of the damage with a one day best 3 31 from eight overs while Gavin Griffiths 1 27 was unlucky to only claim one wicket from his two spells Clark 1 28 and Faulkner 2 27 were equally difficult to play during their 10 overs Faulkner claiming the key wicket of visiting skipper Eoin Morgan for 17 while three wickets fell to the spin of Parry and Croft None of the Middlesex top order looked particularly comfortable in what were clearly bowler friendly conditions and it took two late order partnerships of 28 between Simpson 20 and Harris 32 and 50 between Harris and Toby Roland Jones 29 to help the visitors post any sort of reasonable looking score In the end their total of 161 all out from 46 5 overs was nearly enough but Lancashire took the spoils to move on to their next Royal London Cup game against Warwickshire at Emirates Old Trafford this Sunday in good spirits Lancashire Lightning Stanley Park Blackpool Wed 29 Jul 2015 10 30 English Domestic Royal London One Day Cup 2015 V Lancashire win by 2 wickets Middlesex Panthers Lancashire innings Batsman How Out Runs Balls 4 s 6 s SR Karl Brown Caught Ollie Rayner Bowled Junaid Khan 36 37 7 0 97 30 Ashwell Prince Caught Nick Compton Bowled Junaid Khan 1 2 0 0 50 00 Alviro Petersen Caught Eoin Morgan Bowled James Harris 14 24 2 0 58 33 Paul Horton Caught Ollie Rayner Bowled James Franklin 18 33 1 0 54 55 Steven Croft Caught John Simpson Bowled James Franklin 3 8 0 0 37 50 James Faulkner Caught Ollie Rayner Bowled Junaid Khan 35 82 3 0 42 68 Alex Davies Caught John Simpson Bowled Toby Roland Jones 1 7 0 0 14 29 Jordan Clark Caught James Franklin Bowled James Harris 29 63 3 0 46 03 Stephen Parry Not Out 9 19 1 0 47 37 Tom Bailey Not Out 5 14 0 0 35 71 Gavin Griffiths Extras 2b 0lb 6nb 3w 0p 11 Totals

  • Lancashire Lightning v Warwicks Bears
partnership for the 6th wicket with James Faulkner who made 20 off 35 Davies showed early intent with three early fours including one thumping drive over cover that raced to the long boundary on the Brian Statham Way side of the ground The real mayhem came from the final five overs which saw 55 runs added as Lancashire ended their innings on 265 7 thanks largely to Davies who hit Ateeq Javid for a straight six in the 46th before pulling Barker in to the mid wicket stand in the following over Chopra and Will Porterfield raced away at the start of the Bears reply Porterfield pulling Tom Bailey for six as Warwickshire reached the end of the 10 over powerplay on 60 0 The immediate introduction of Stephen Parry slowed the scoring and then produced a wicket as Porterfield on 38 drove the left arm spinner to Croft at mid wicket to make the visitors 64 1 in the 13th over That soon became 71 2 when Faulkner struck to dismiss Trott for 1 the Warwickshire batsman cutting the first ball of the 16th over straight to Croft at point Croft and Parry then combined to apply pressure at both ends with a spell of eleven overs of spin only conceding 41 runs as the visitors reached the halfway point on 116 2 Chopra reached his fifty from 75 balls and the Warwickshire skipper found great support from Ambrose who struck a fine 59 with his half century arriving from 45 balls The pair posted their century partnership from 112 balls before Kyle Jarvis trapped Ambrose lbw for 59 to leave the Bears 173 3 in the 35th over Clarke pulled the excellent Parry 2 30 from 10 overs to Prince at long on to depart for 5 and Laurie Evans drove Croft to Horton at mid wicket for 11 as the visitors reached 204 5 at the end of the 42nd over with the game in the balance When Chopra was bowled playing back to Croft for 88 Lancashire looked to be slight favourites with the Bears then 211 6 in the 44th over Barker and Javid added 27 runs to steer their side back on course and within 28 runs of victory before Barker drove Faulkner to Prince at mid off with three overs left Jeetan Patel hit two crucial boundaries one in the 48th and one in the 49th over to leave 13 required off the final six deliveries of the match bowled by Tom Bailey The Warwickshire all rounder hit a further four off the first ball of the last over before Javid with six required from three hit consecutive boundaries to steer the Bears home with one ball to spare With four of the eight group games played Lancashire are 2 points away from the top four of Group B Our next game is in two days at Liverpool on Tuesday when Nottinghamshire are the visitors 10 30am start Ken Grime Lancashire Lightning Emirates

  • Lancashire VS Nottinghamshire - 04 Aug 2015 - Lancashire County Cricket Club
having thumped Harry Gurney for two boundaries fell to Ball trying to hit out but only finding Brendan Taylor at mid off That left Lancashire on 204 8 in the 48th over with five wickets having fallen for 42 runs in 6 overs Stephen Parry and Kyle Jarvis saw the remainder of the innings out to finish on 216 8 which looked to be some way short of what was required Lancashire fought back Rikki Wessels becoming the first of three victims for Gavin Griffiths when he pulled the fast bowler to Petersen at deep square leg to fall for 6 with the score on 18 Griffiths then took an outstanding catch off his own bowling a left handed effort low down from a well struck drive by Alex Hales Hales by then had demonstrated why he is involved in the England set up with a rapid 26 ball innings of 32 hitting Jarvis for four and six from consecutive deliveries in the third over and hitting three further boundaries before Griffiths great catch Two balls later Griffiths was on his way to a career best 3 41 celebrating the scalp of Brendon Taylor who drove to Prince at mid off to put Notts in trouble on 53 3 in the 11th over Patel with 29 and Taylor steadied the Outlaws reply with a 51 run partnership before Patel pulled Parry to Brown at deep mid wicket With Parry and Lilley applying pressure Notts dug in as Mullaney and Taylor doggedly added 23 runs in 8 overs until Mullaney was caught at leg slip by Horton off Lilley for 6 When Taylor departed for 56 well stumped by Davies off Lilley Notts were 146 6 and still 71 runs away from their target and the game in the balance Read with a trademark one day innings of 47 from 45 balls and Hutton 33 off 41 refused to buckle and took their side to victory Read hitting the last two balls of the match for six and four to clinch victory with 20 balls remaining Lancashire captain Steven Croft agreed with the assessment that his side had fallen short of their run target earlier in the day We knew it was a bit under par he admitted It would have to be a really good effort to win with that score We wanted around the 250 mark which we felt would have been very hard to get The toss was quite vital with a 10 30 start We know from other games here it usually gets a bit better to bat on during the day It did flatten out and it turned a bit more for us It was a disappointing end but I can t fault the effort We just didn t have enough runs to play with I thought Gavin Griffiths did really well he added He had the tough end again today and he just got on with it I was really pleased to see him get
