  • CEOs Helping Fight Manchester's Homelessness Problem - Lancashire County Cricket Club
    raise funds for projects in Manchester and also to raise awareness of a growing problem in the city CEO Sleepout Manchester is being organised by the LCCC Foundation in partnership with national charity CEO Sleepout UK and will build on the huge success of CEO Sleepout UK s recent London event at The Kia Oval when 170 000 was raised for charities which fight the effects and causes of homelessness The event will start at 8pm and finishes the following morning at Emirates Old Trafford the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club CEO Sleepout UK is a new and lean charity which has already worked with partners to hold events at prestigious venues like Wembley Stadium Cardiff Castle and St James Park Newcastle Around 500 executives have taken part in the sleepouts and together have raised over 680 000 to fight homelessness and poverty in the UK Andy Preston from CEO Sleepout UK said CEO Sleepout UK is delighted to be working with the LCCC Foundation to host an event at such a prestigious venue By engaging the executive community across the North West we aim to raise funds to help fight poverty and homelessness in Manchester Sandy Mitchell from the LCCC Foundation said This is a great opportunity to raise people s awareness of homelessness in Manchester and by partnering up with CEO Sleepout UK we believe we can help to raise significant funds for charities that support those in need day in and day out Theresa Grant CEO of Trafford Council said Homelessness is an issue that cannot be ignored by signing up to take part in the sleepout on the 16th May I hope I can play a small part in in an event that aims to make a big difference Will you join in and help

    conference and events facilities Staff at Lancashire County Cricket Club have worked tirelessly over recent days to clear the Lodge of bedding furniture and appliances in readiness for the work and charities including Stretford based Hope Direct Manchester Dogs Home and other local charities have benefitted from the clear out Hope Direct s mission is to increase opportunities and transform lives of suffering and vulnerable children in developing countries including Sierra Leone and Cameroon by providing the access to education and normal living standards as well as supplying healthy food clothes and other essentials Simultaneously they help to improve the natural environment in North West England by recycling and reselling household goods to supply people with essential merchandise at affordable prices LCCC s Operations Director Anthony Mundy said We are moving quickly with our new hotel and we are now ready to commence demolition The Lodge has lots of good quality pieces of furniture that won t be required for the new Hilton Garden Inn hotel so rather than seeing them go to waste we are delighted that these local charities can make use of them for the fantastic work they do Other items have been sold to staff with

    improve their DIY skills The session at the DIY School in Stockport was organised by Matthew Wood the former Yorkshire and Glamorgan batsman who now works as one of the PCA s six strong team of Personal Development Managers and Welfare Managers as part of the players ongoing Personal Development Programme Simon Kerrigan Toby Lester Jordan Clark Luke Procter Arron Lilley Tom Bailey Karl Brown and Robert Jones donned their overalls and joined Wood for a busy day of plastering wallpaper hanging wall lining skirting board fitting and door hanging under the expert supervision of the professional staff at the school There was a competitive element to the day with Clark taking the prize for the best finish after the plastering session The lads enjoyed a challenge and found that it was all more difficult than the tutor made it look Wood said Obviously competitive instincts kicked in which added to an enjoyable day Personal development is important in all work sectors Cricketers and sportspeople spend thousands of hours honing skills to improve their performance this is a similar investment of time that will help create a safe exit from professional sport It changes up the winter programme and is

    off the outfield amongst other tasks Giles said It s fantastic for us to come down to Ramsbottom CC this morning to help out where we can It shows a commitment from us to one of our clubs and the league in general He added Most of our lads will have started at cricket clubs like these so it s important we remember our roots but also the future of Lancashire County Cricket Club should be coming from clubs in Lancashire so we want to help out where we can There s clearly a big job to be done here but hopefully we ve helped in a small way with all the staff coming down from Emirates Old Trafford today Captain of Lancashire County Cricket Club Steven Croft said It s really important that we came down here today because you can see how much the flooding has affected not only cricket but people in the county It s great to see so many people down here to help a club that has been severely damaged by the floods The Club has also donated the following auction prizes to help raise even more money for the appeal 4 x VIP

  • Red Rose Floods Appeal Target Increased - Emirates Old Trafford
    with the Lancashire County Cricket Club Foundation and Lancashire Cricket Board to set up the Red Rose Floods Appeal with a view to raising 10 000 to help support those communities However with the total online and offline now standing at over 11 000 which includes a 2 000 donation by the Club officials have revised the target to 20 000 Daniel Gidney Lancashire s Chief Executive said To eclipse the Red Rose Floods Appeal s initial target of 10 000 inside a week was beyond our expectations We are delighted by the generosity displayed by people from across the country and we have decided to double the target so that we can make an even bigger difference to those unfortunate people who have been badly affected by the flooding As well as donating 2 000 to the appeal the Club has also offered some fantastic hospitality prizes as auction items I d like to thank everybody who has donated so far The Club has donated the following auction prizes to help raise even more money for the appeal 4 x VIP Hospitality places for Sunday 24th July Second Investec Test between England and Pakistan starting price 700 2 x
