  • Wagner joins Lancashire CCC for the 2016 season - Lancashire County Cricket Club
    Tests at an average of 33 34 and is also in the First Class record books after taking five wickets in one six ball over for Otago against Wellington in April 2011 Wagner has an exceptional First Class record with 431 wickets taken at an average of 27 from 104 games played Wagner Pretoria born started his cricketing career in South Africa where he made his First Class debut for Northerns in 2005 06 and currently plays for Otago in New Zealand The Kiwi bowler also played for Northants Cricket for a short spell in 2014 in Division One of the County Championship Cricket Director and Head Coach Ashley Giles said We are delighted to have brought in Neil Wagner to strengthen our bowling attack Neil is a world class bowler with a tremendous pedigree and having him available for such an extended period will give our County Championship Division One campaign a real boost I am looking forward to him adding some additional quality to our squad Neil Wagner added I am extremely excited to play for such a great club I have always admired Lancashire ever since playing in the Liverpool Lancashire league for Ormskirk in 2008 I

  • LCB successful in Women's Super League bid - Lancashire County Cricket Club
    six selected hosts today The Women s Cricket Super League will start in the summer of 2016 with the six teams competing in a Twenty20 T20 event In future seasons the competition will include both T20 and 50 over formats All six teams have been awarded hosting rights for a four year period from 2016 2019 inclusive Tom Harrison Chief Executive of the ECB said This is a key day in the creation of the Women s Cricket Super League we have now secured the six hosts for the start of the competition this summer The bidding process for obtaining the hosts was competitive from the outset and throughout the interviews alongside my colleagues on the panel I was very impressed by all of the proposals submitted It is pleasing to see so much diverse and innovative partnership working across the cricket and educational landscapes and that the six chosen hosts provide such a strong geographical spread To have seven First Class counties five Non First Class counties and three universities involved demonstrates how collaborative imaginative and wide ranging this project is ECB Director of England Women s Cricket Clare Connor added It has been remarkable to see the enthusiasm that the Women s Cricket Super League has generated The award process has provided a real catalyst for a wide range of organisations to think differently about their individual and collaborative cricket offer for women and girls and how they can positively shape the future of the game It is not just the final six hosts who are behind the growth of the women s game but a range of parties and people who have been engaged throughout this search Our vision for the Women s Cricket Super League is to create an exciting dynamic and high quality domestic women

    plan with great precision meals that will complement the splendour of a stunning party atmosphere Nic Ashurst Head Chef at Emirates Old Trafford Planning started in January when we drew up the menus and we ve now started meeting with local suppliers to get the ingredients in said Nic who has worked with the Club for 28 years starting his career as a commis chef Nic is very methodical when it comes to choosing the menus preferring to make subtle changes to an already successfully established winning formula He added I do quite a bit of research We listen to feedback and look at what our competitors offer On occasions we cater for over 800 people at a time and our ambition is to serve and present meals with the finesse of a top restaurant In what may sound as poultry to some people s ears Nic has defied the modern trend of serving chicken and prefers to stick with tradition and use turkey Lamb rump is also used as an alternative But Nic confessed that he is not fully compliant with Christmas custom We are probably the only place that doesn t serve sprouts or Christmas puddings I think sprouts are ugly and are very difficult to plate up They also don t get eaten As an alternative we provide root vegetables and as we can cater for 3 to 4 000 people over a weekend these can be prepared by the supplier in advance As a club proud and steeped in Lancashire heritage Nic prefers to source his ingredients from local suppliers It is very important that we obtain quality produce and also to support local businesses We are mindful of the environment too and where possible we must try to keep the fuel use down he said
