    central contract By LCCC Staff 15 12 2015 L ancashire bowler Kate Cross has been awarded an England central contract for 2016 17 The England and Wales Cricket Board ECB has announced that 19 players from the England Women s Performance Programme have been awarded new central contracts for the 2016 2017 period ECB s Director of England Women s Cricket Clare Connor said The women s game continues to develop and move forward at an extraordinary pace and today s announcement confirms professional cricket to be an attractive career choice for talented female athletes Next year will be the busiest ever 12 months for England women under newly appointed Head Coach Mark Robinson with overseas tours to South Africa West Indies and Sri Lanka the ICC World Twenty20 in India plus a home series against Pakistan The awarding of central contracts ensures that the squad will be as best prepared and supported as possible for each of those contests England women will next be in action in February 2016 when they will travel to South Africa to play a three match One Day International series and three match Twenty20 International series The England women s squad for this tour

  • Qasim Ali looks back on England PD World Cup - Lancashire County Cricket Club
    Cross International T20 Tournament for people with Physical Disabilities was a ground breaking event as they were joined by Afghanistan India and hosts Bangladesh England went on to win the event with a 19 run victory over Pakistan in the final on September 10 and Ali was delighted all his and the players hard work in the last year paid off He said I am hugely proud of the lads and from a management point of view it is a huge achievement We started planning this in October last year once we got wind of the competition and we have really tried to develop the brand of cricket that we want to play The goal we had was to become world champions but we didn t really know what we would have to do to do that because we had only previously played Pakistan But we worked hard on our fundamental skills over the winter and pushed the players out of their comfort zones We have worked really hard on the strength and conditioning and it is a credit to the lads and the staff that they managed to do that We have also changed a number of other different factors and importantly we learned to adapt and that was evident in Bangladesh because it was not the easiest place to play cricket England lost their opening game against Bangladesh but went on to beat India Pakistan and Afghanistan in the group stages before beating Pakistan once more in the final The overall goal of the ECB and a number of the other governing bodies is to eventually introduce a World Cup He added Without a shadow of a doubt this is a step in the right direction as we work towards setting up a World Cup Now we have

  • Hameed and Mahmood play in England U19's defeat - Lancashire County Cricket Club
    14 12 2015 T he Lancashire duo of Haseeb Hameed and Saqib Mahmood were part of the England U19 s side that were defeated in the opening one day international against Sri Lanka The pair both broke into the Lancashire First Team earlier this summer with Saqib Mahmood making his debut in the NatWest T20 Blast fixture against Derbyshire Falcons before Hameed came into the Red Rose side for the final four County Championship fixtures hitting a top score of 91 against Surrey at Emirates Old Trafford England impressed with the ball and dismissed the hosts for 191 with Lancashire fast bowler Saqib Mahmood taking 0 32 from six overs Hampshire spinner Brad Taylor was the stand out bowler for the Three Lions taking the figures of 4 34 In reply with Lancashire batsman Haseeb Hameed opening for the visitors England made a solid start despite losing the wicket of Essex batsman early on Hameed played patiently for his 20 but wickets started to fall at regular intervals Kent s Ryan Davies 28 and Durham s Jack Burnham 32 put up some resistance but England were bowled out for 139 and were defeated by 52 runs Click here for the
