  • Giles backs ECB decision on the toss next year - Lancashire County Cricket Club
reason behind the ECB s decision is to encourage counties to provide better pitches for four day cricket and Giles is in full support of the idea The former England international said I think it should be good for our game There have been too many matches in the County Championship that have finished in two days or three days If we are going to prepare our players to play test cricket we need to be playing the longer form of the game I don t think that it will affect us here too much to be honest as the wickets are very good at Emirates Old Trafford and they remain good for the full game I think overall it should help raise the standard of the game in England I think it s a good move from the ECB If it doesn t work then we can change it back but I think it s a good thing to try Giles also supported the decision to trial the toss in both divisions of the County Championship rather than just the Second Division It makes sense to use it in both divisions otherwise you get the situation where it works
