    Advertising Events Tickets Online Booking 2016 Membership 2016 One Day T20 Season Ticket 2016 Charlie Fox Club 2016 David Gower Executive Club 2016 Match Ticket Prices Community news 26th November 2015 DMU cricketers enjoy coaching at Grace Road De Montfort University s cricketers had their first coaching session with Leicestershire County Cricket Club s players and coaches at Grace Road last Friday The club has a unique partnership with De Montfort University which includes hosting the Varsity game at Grace Road Our professionals are now passing on their expertise to the team in the Mike Turner Indoor Centre to help them prepare for the new season The opening session saw a number of individual catching drills such as slip cordon practice and reflexes followed by a team fielding session and batting bowling and wicket keeping in the nets Leicestershire CCC batsman Ned Eckersley said We had a really good two hour period of training where the De Montfort University players did catching and fielding followed by batting bowling and keeping in the nets The players always enjoy helping the team and it is one of the ways in which Leicestershire County Cricket Club and De Montfort University work closely together

    legends Mike Gatting and Devon Malcolm Chance to Shine Street was launched in 2008 to bring cricket to young people in urban areas where there are few green spaces and fewer traditional cricket clubs The charity is also using the game to promote social cohesion and connect young people from different backgrounds in diverse communities Mira Patel was the winner of the Outstanding Volunteer Award for her work on the girl s programme in Leicester presented by England legend Devon Malcolm Her award citation commended her for developing a great relationship with the girls in the project Tom Leonard from Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket said that having such a positive female role model has been vital She has developed as a coach through her volunteering becoming more confident in passing on her knowledge to help the girls at her Street session to really enjoy their cricket and improve their skills Mira said It feels amazing to win The girls deserve it more than me They make me enjoy the sessions and make me want to come back I was really happy and shocked when I heard I d won I ve never won anything before It means everything to me to win this award Vijal Vinay was awarded with the Outstanding Young Adults Participant trophy presented to him by England international Samit Patel He received the award after being nominated following excellent batting performances both at local Leicester sessions and national competitions at Edgbaston and Lord s Vijal has been a regular attendee at the Young Adults sessions held weekly at Cossington Street Sports Centre Leicester had another successful nominee in the Outstanding Senior Participant category which was awarded to Bhoumik Premji who was unfortunately unable to attend the awards evening Bhoumik was nominated due to his exemplary sportsmanship displayed

    Club 2016 Match Ticket Prices Community news 19th November 2015 Mark Barber Unsung Hero nominee Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket s Mark Barber was recently nominated by his club Sileby Town CC and shortlisted for the BBC Get Inspired Sports Unsung Hero Mark works for LRC as a Senior Cricket Development Officer and has been with Sileby Town for over 20 years as a player captain coach and now Academy Chairman He was nominated by Ella Frost for his selfless work with the Sileby Town Academy but most especially the work he s done with the fledgling Girls section which is a new venture for the club Ella said Mark gives up so much of his free time and time that he d normally spend with his family to help and support so many of the juniors in the Academy but especially the new Girls team Club Chairman Nigel Kinch added Mark s been a real asset to the club over many years and for him to get recognition like this is absolutely fantastic He took on the Academy a couple of years ago and has really run with it and the work he s done with the girls team has been exceptional Laura Joyce Cricket Development Manager at LRC said Mark is a dedicated and hard working member of the LRC development team and this passion and enthusiasm carries through in the voluntary work he does for his club Despite putting in substantial hours as part of his day job he still finds the time to invest countless volunteer hours to make sure people have the opportunity to be part of this great sport Mark is one of hundreds of volunteers supporting grassroots cricket across the County and we re proud that his club took the time to recognise his

    Chance to Shine Leicestershire CCC seamer Atif Sheikh joined Elite Development Coach Keith Piper and 50 local youngsters from around Leicester at a Chance to Shine Street session at the Cossington Street Sports Centre The cricketing stars and local youngsters aged eight 15 played street cricket It is a fast paced version of the game which uses a tapeball a tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape where innings lasts for 20 balls and games for 20 minutes The games take place often in hard courts and community centres in urban areas rather than on leafy traditional grass pitches Chance to Shine charity and Leicestershire Rutland Cricket organised the competition Leicestershire CCC mascot Charlie Fox joined Piper and Sheikh in cheering on the teams Talking about the day Piper said I ve seen a lot of enthusiastic kids today which is refreshing to see Some kids are underprivileged and don t have the opportunity to get to cricket clubs so this is a great opportunity for them to get up to get up to speed with cricket My advice to these young people is keep enjoying the game and put yourself into these kinds of situations constantly Sheikh added It s important for the youngsters to get involved in more cricket I ve grown up playing tapeball cricket with my brothers who used to tape the ball up and put five six layers around the ball to make it nice and hard Playing this sort of cricket can improve your cricket as well it s how players like Saqlain Mushtaq learnt his doosra with a tapeball These youngsters just need to enjoy playing cricket and give it 100 per cent Omar Khan Global Head of Sponsorship and Events at Lycamobile said We are passionate about connecting communities and it has been
